Searching for a user

Is this still possible? When I tried a link it just takes me to the home page, so I'm not sure if this feature has been disabled?

You should be able to type a username in the search box without issue. Can we ask what device and browser you're using to access the site?

Thanks for replying, do you happen to have a link to the search box? I use the app but have tried a link from a thread from 2019 which no longer seems to work.

I can't send you a link because the search is integrated into the page - so it doesn't have its own link! Can you make sure your app is up to date in the app store?

I can search for a topic using the spy glass but not a user?

Anyone know? Even on the web browser when I follow the link from a post a few years ago (which used to work) it just takes me to the 'talk' section?

You can’t do it like you used to be able to. If you click the magnifying glass and go to the generic search, it has various filters but they don’t work properly in that I can’t type in your name and find all your posts. Very annoying.

As an example, I just searched my own username and all posts in the past 24 hours. This is all it displays despite posting a lot more over the last day - not even the post I’ve just made on this thread!

Hi @greenygreens . The 2019 link you're using may not work any more. Best thing might be to give it a go on this link www.mumsnet.com/search/advanced.

With the app, advanced search isn’t available right now, so that’s why it isn’t opening in there when you follow the link.

In the iOS app, the search is basic and you can’t add filters for usernames like you can on desktop. But you can still search in the app - if you try searching for the username directly in the app, you should see both threads started by the user and posts from them. We are aware of an issue in the app at the moment, though, where search results are repeated when a user scrolls down to refresh the results. We’re looking to fix this soon but just so you're forewarned.

The easiest thing for now might be to use the link to advanced search above on the desktop site rather than the app.

Sorry that's a bit convoluted but hopefully it will help!
