Why on earth was this thread deleted?

This one asking for stories from people whose lives had improved when they’d been at rock bottom.

I read the OP and did not see anything in it that warranted deletion. Was hoping to go back and read the replies later. Cannot fathom why it was zapped.

I can see a reply on ‘I’m on’ that asks if I meant a totally different thread about unwanted female attention. No, I meant the one I linked to!

The deletion notice says it broke the talk guidelines but it definitely didn’t. OP said they were struggling and wanted to hear stories of positive outcomes. Why was it deleted?!

I think I'd been watching that thread too and it's a shame it went, I need positive stories at the moment too!

ABrotherWhoLooksLikeHellMugYou · 01/08/2022 07:39

The only i can think of is that it was posted in bad faith by a journo

how can you see a post on a thread that no longer exists?

what is the point in linking to a deleted thread, we can't see which thread it was, just the deleted message.

Hopefully @MNHQ will tell you soon.

nothing to stop you starting a new, similar, thread

PurpleDaisies · 01/08/2022 07:49

I would guess journo or begging PMs.

The post showed up in my ‘I’m on’ page as a reply asking if I was talking about a different thread about a different topic.

The link to the original thread should be enough to identify which one I was talking about.

i just wanted an answer from mn

And you CAN see which one it is by looking at the URL

OP posts:
Turningstreets · 01/08/2022 08:04

Maybe the op asked for it to be taken down?

Turningstreets · 01/08/2022 08:04

Oh wait - ignore that! I see it was taken down by breaching the talk guidelines!

Turningstreets · 01/08/2022 08:05

*for

Ahh!

LunaLemon · 01/08/2022 08:10

I feel very naive as I never considered fishing journos!

It would be helpful if MN explained how a post or thread breached talk guidelines. I had two posts deleted in a thread. I can't even remember what I said but I was surprised.

WudYouSayItInRealLife · 01/08/2022 08:23

MN have access to a lot of information that we don't. I didn't see the thread but sounds like it could have been a subtle begging thread. I think MN can see PMs?

HebeMumsnet · 01/08/2022 11:42

Morning, everyone.

We've had a look back at this. It looks like the OP possibly wasn't genuine and we took down all of their threads in one go. We can't see that there was anything actually 'wrong' with this thread in itself but they had others going that were more problematic. We do often do a bit of a clean up of threads when we ban someone just so that people aren't wasting their time interacting with someone we don't believe to be posting genuinely.

Sorry the thread vanished mid-read though!
