Why not possible to hide a thread without opening?

Just wondering why it’s not possible to hide a thread without first opening it. Or is it and I’ve missed something?

On the app, you cam just swipe left

You can! From the main list of threads you click on the 3 dots to the right and delete it.

I agree. Seeing certain thread titles bother me. I want to avoid them, yet I have to go into the actual thread to hide it. Makes no sense.

All that comes up is the option to watch the thread when I click on the three dots.

On my browser there's a minus sign in a circle at the right of the thread list in active - just click on that to hide it.

I hide from the Active list without opening the thread.

Are you all using the app? On my phone there’s no option to hide it by clicking on the 3 dots, not can I swipe left and hide it.

Like others I only have ‘Watch’ which is kind of ironic when I very much want to hide it. Interesting that others have that and ‘Hide’ though. I’m on an iPhone 12 browsing via Safari iOS 15.5.

Are you using the mobile site? I can do it on my phone, not an iphone but are there different versions of the mobile site? What do you get when you click on the three dots?

Yes via the mobile site. Just get ‘Watch’ when I click the three dots unfortunately.

Morning everyone. This is easier on the app, it's true. However, if you're trying to hide threads from your Active Conversations feed, the issue might be that you need to move the toggle to 'yes' on hiding threads here: www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk

Could you give that a go and let us know if that fixes it?

@HebeMumsnet that's for hiding whole topics. Is there a way to hide a particular thread without having to open it?

@SirChenjins when I followed the steps above it then gave me the option to both hide and watch the thread when I click the three dots next to the thread title (used to just be able to watch). It’s so nice not to have to click into grim/depressing threads to hide them now!
