Private messages and pressing enter?

Every time I press enter on my private messages, it sends the message whereas I just want to start a new paragraph?

It only happens in the messaging, not threads. Anyone have this issue?

Hi @Eesha if you hold down the shift key while you press enter, it'll take you to the next paragraph on PMs.

Although I agree that work around works @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet , it is not really a proper long term solution, so I hope it will be fixed in due course. Just give us back a 'send' button please.

I think the intent behind this change is to make PMs more like IMs, sort of similar to the format you'd see in WhatsApp chats. I personally quite like this as the last time I messaged someone (was more than a year ago, to be fair) our conversation 'flow' was more akin to WhatsApp messages than traditional message board messages. I get why some wouldn't like the change though!

I prefer it all in one neat message, when I use them anyhow.

Presumably you don’t send or receive long messages? As a long wall of text is difficult to read for the majority of people.
