Does anyone else find this incredibly tedious? When posters quote previous posts and it becomes an incredibly long post with vertical lines and a single word on each line? Or is it just some setting on my phone?

Whatever it is, I'm finding it very off-putting. I've tried to attach a screenshot as an example, hope it works.

Yes it's tiresome, also it is difficult to see who said what when all the names are at the top.

No, I like it.

I like it. Its easier to trace back who said what in response.

I agree.
And this is the third thread I’ve read on the same subject. I find multiple threads about the same thing tedious.

PAFMO · 01/07/2022 07:01

Posters were asking for it for about 15 years saying "on every other site blabla"

Yep.

The most frustrating is people quoting the OP. If you're among the first to respond to a thread, there's really no need to quote OP, we've all just read their post. 🙄

I am new - i am a bit confused how to reply to a post as if you use reply it does not seem to link to that post which means the reply wont make sense? Quotes seemed to work but maybe not the most logical in all situations? Have just realised there is an @ after it being used to reference me! So thats useful as long as you can remember what you posted!
also missing a “like” button? So you know which replies are popular/agreed with! Any support on correct etiquette to help me fit in is much appreciated!! ;-)

@Closetheaccount if you can get the app you won't have to see all that nonsense.

BIWI · 01/07/2022 14:22

The issue of a like button is a very controversial one @Popcorn77! It's been raised/debated/argued about over the years, and - in general - the majority don't want one.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 01/07/2022 14:45

Hello @Closetheaccount thanks for posting. We're working on improving the quote function so that you'll see the last message in the quote preview and you can expand the rest of it to read the quote history if you wish. Right now, we've got a huge to-do list and so I can't give you an exact time frame but we'll get it rolled out as soon as we can.

Thank you @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet

It's really bloody irritating.

I've no idea why people need to post multiple quotes. I've closed so many threads recently as I just can't be arsed with reading the same quote over and over and over............ and have no patience for screen after screen of grey. Just tag the poster ffs if you're replying!

saraclara · 05/07/2022 20:32

Is the people who, for no useful reason, quote whole of the initial OP before they respond, who drive me nuts. Yes, we know what the OP said.
