Is there a limit on how many times you can post in a thread now? Tried to answer a post and got that message!

It eventually let me post after some time!

Oh I need to tag @mnhq or something don't I?

No, don’t need to tag, it’s site stuff, they’ll be along.

Strange message though. Looks like an anti-spamming measure. Maybe you’re just too efficient at reading and posting?🫤

I don't know but it's not necessarily a bad idea?

I was on a thread recently where the same poster was constantly posting the same tedious things and ignoring everyone else, like literally every third or fourth comment was the same poster

Not saying that's what you were doing but maybe it's a good idea that needs some tweaking

MichelleScarn · 22/06/2022 18:48

It was literally the 2nd post I'd put on the thread, and wasn't even I hope anything contentious! But yes @dreamingbohemian agree maybe a good thing for some posters!!

I've seen this on other forums to deter spammers.

It wasn't really about how many times they'd posted, but more the length of time between posts. Most spammers copy & paste and try to get as many posts in as they can, before being banned.

gingersplodgecat · 22/06/2022 19:05

A hobby forum I go on has a minimum time limit between posts as a spammer deterrent, so occasionally you get an error message saying you have to wait so many seconds before posting.

Not seen the MN one before though.

FlibbertyGiblets · 22/06/2022 19:17

Not seen this on MN before HOWEVER I have seen a message along the lines of 'oops, too soon to post after your previous post, try again soon' on my little local Shropshire Life type chatboard - 30 seconds must elapse then you can press post with impunity.

Interested to hear what HQ have to say.

Hi OP

This is a spam deterrent - it shouldn't last very long at all. Do you have any idea how long it lasted?
