Is anyone posting less due to glitches?

Well, just that really. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve written a response only to have it disappear! Of course it only seems to happen with the longer posts, but it happens so often now, since the site change that I invariably give up and don’t re-write it. I thought it might have been my old phone, but I upgraded that this week, and it’s still happening.

(Will be amazed if this posts 😁)

Just me then 😂

It’s got less bad for me but yes, it’s changed how often and what I post. I’m very wary about linking to anything now because if I leave the page to copy the link, often mn post is gone as the page refreshes when you go back to it.

I’m finding that lack of automatic capitalisation at the start of a new paragraph more irritating than it should be.

Threads just disappearing with no explanation is rubbish.

The thing that’s bothering me the most is the change to the search function which is now not for purpose.

BemoreDerek · 22/05/2022 11:40

Yes I'm posting less, finding the site much less easy to use overall and am spending a lot less time on here. Which probably isn't a bad thing for me tbh but surely can't be good for MN if lots of us are doing the same?

BeggarsMeddle · 23/05/2022 07:34

Posting a comment yesterday took me three attempts. Copied and pasted a link plus my comment on the picture (my comment was about that specific image). What I call the 'delay accessing' symbol was revolving then nothing. Third time lucky but saw my post preceded by two incomplete comments. If that makes sense...

OuiWeeOui · 23/05/2022 08:04

I was but it seems to be OK now. I didn't use the site for a few days and it had righted itself when I came back on

GU24Mum · 23/05/2022 08:07

Me too - I've tried to post this sort of reply several time but can't as for some reason, I can't post from the app on my phone despite being logged in and on Premium. I can't usually be bothered to post from my desktop though have finally decided to do so and add my name to the list of complainants!

I've also found that there seems to be less traffic on the threads so it's overall less fun than it was.

kitchens4ever · 23/05/2022 08:16

Yes. I mainly used the site for DIY and home decoration site where photos are often vital. The photos are now still too small to see when i click on them so I cant use it which is disappointing especially when I want to ask for advice. Really upset that MN wont say anything other than say post a screen shot. I have no idea how to post a screen shot and am working on a computer not a phone. I just need photos back to how they were or ideally just a return to the old site. Cant they make it so photos can be zoomed in. Not impressed by the dismissive non apologetic attitude of MN.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 23/05/2022 08:26

It’s so frustrating isn’t it? I won’t even attempt to post more than 3 or 4 sentences as anything longer seems to trigger the page into ‘refreshing’ itself, then my post is lost before I can upload it! Really annoying ☹️

Yes me too

kitchens4ever · 23/05/2022 08:31

Why would MN not be apologetic. It is unbelievable that they think this is a few minor issues that would be expected. No one on here admits to trialling it properly in the research and say they didnt realize it was a proper trial. No one with any disabilities claim to have been on the research and MN are not responding to issues about it being less accessible and how this was researched.

BiddyPop · 23/05/2022 08:35

Can't post off my phone or ipad, only laptop. Half the time posts won't post even on that.

Also fed up of seeing so many posts chopped off halfway through.

And very fed up of no paragraphs appearing in long posts.

LemonySippet · 23/05/2022 10:04

I'm not necessarily posting less, but spending a lot less time reading as trying to get a thread to load is just impossible when using the site on a browser. Even on a short thread like this, with just 12 posts, as soon as there's a mid-thread advert (which never even loads for me (no adblocker) so what's the point, the whole thread cuts off and I can't see the point. If I accidentally scroll down too fast, it doesn't load. Refreshing doesn't help. I get frustrated and just leave and go and do something else.

I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like for me and I'm going to suggest this thread is moved to site stuff so MNHQ might actually read it. Aside from constantly being logged out I am beyond annoyed at all of this, mumsnet was where I came for a break and to relax and read for a bit.

I dislike the app because the 'see next' functionality is missing and as someone who is neurodiverse, it's too busy and cluttered. The browser was comfortable and familiar and easy to use.

Ivedonethisthreetimealready · 23/05/2022 10:48

It keeps asking me to create a new username - not sure if it is me or the glitches.

I also do like to see who had posted so less interested when I have to scroll to see who the last poster was from the main page.

So dont really post as much or even read the threads so much.

Not convinced this post will work or username is saved.

EatSleepReplete · 23/05/2022 21:20

Yes. For most of the reasons above. CBA with it.

Hi all

Search is going to be improved so please do bear with us on that front. We hear you - it's not behaving as you'd expect and we will be making it better.

Disappearing threads are going to be fixed soon, too. They shouldn't be vanishing and you should be able to see deletion messages. We're in the process of rectifying this.

If anyone is having issues with posts you're making, please can you email us so we can investigate this? [email protected].

If you're experiencing glitches then as frustrating as it is, we need your device and browser information - and we also need to know where and how this happens. Screen recordings are ideal but if not, then screenshots of error messages are also extremely useful.

We really want to get everyone posting normally, again. Mumsnet was a very old site so we did expect some bumps in the road with regards to a transition - but please do believe we are here and exploring every issue, and working through them as quickly as we can. Flowers
