Why did you delete my thread??? AIBU nuclear war etc

There have been loads of threads on here since the Ukraine invasion started, about WW3 and fear of nuclear war etc.

Why was mine considered to be scaremongering (🙄) when all those others were left to stand?

Is this not a forum for adults? People post about scary or upsetting subjects all the time. This is something that’s in the news and may end up affecting all of us. Why is discussion of, for example, the existential threat to us all from climate change acceptable if it’s not ok to talk about this particular upsetting subject?

As I said, this is a forum for adults and nobody is forced to read threads on subjects they can’t cope with.

I deliberately made my thread subject very clear in the title for the specific reason that not everyone wants to think about nuclear attack, let alone discuss it. And for that, I was accused of being flippant.

MNHQ if you check my posting history you’ll see I’m a genuine poster and certainly not a wind up merchant. I’m just so shocked that you deleted my thread.

@darlingdodo What is with you self appointed forum police? What gives you the right to dictate what other people can discuss? Why can’t you just scroll past if something doesn’t interest you?

Your thread title was scaremongering. There is a series of long running threads about the War in Ukraine. If you'd wanted sensible, informed discussion you could have posted on there.

Many people are worried about a situation over which they have absolutely no control. Your thread title was ridiculously dramatic and the thread deserved deletion.

@darlingdodo Presumably that’s what you intended when you posted a single emoji as your entire reply.

My thread title wasn’t dramatic. It was something like “AIBU to think we will be the nuclear sacrificial lamb for Russia and nato”. Not “AIBU to think we’re all going to die” 🙄

The thread was deleted because it received multiple reports stating concerns of scaremongering. We had a look and could understand how the thread could be perceived in this way, so we took it down.

In the beginning of this conflict there was a request for a war topic. At the time mn hq said no, but IMO we need one now so that all this kind of scaremongering hysterical bullshit can reside there and those who don’t want to see it can hide it.

Oh and, if you actually think that posting about nuclear war isn’t scaring people into thinking they’re going to die then you’re wrong. Because if there is a nuclear war (which there won’t be,) then you’re going to die. Hth.

I did not personally attack the person I was responding to, nor was my reply obscene, racist, sexist, disablist, ageist, homophobic or transphobic.

I said you’d answered my OP and that there was therefore no need for them to add their response too. And I said their reply was sanctimonious. Absolutely nothing more than that 😳

I’m bemused as to how that violated MN posting rules as set out in the attached screenshot.

If the word ‘sanctimonious’ was the issue, how on earth was that considered more offensive than the previous poster using the words “hysterical bullshit” when responding to me?

Not a huge issue in the great scheme of things, I just find it really odd.
