It does sometimes help with the decision of whether to read or not

Was it only on the desktop site it did that? I'm on my phone (not app) and can't remember seeing that for ages. But I'm not that observant in fairness

I agree, seeing who posted last is a really useful feature.

It shows at a glance if someone has posted since you last looked (who's got the spare attention span to memorise how many posts, or time of last post you read). Plus fosters a sense of community, because you can look and see who's in.

But there's no good reason to make a desktop site just like a mobile site when it can be so much more and better
