Fishy goings-on around deleted threads <scratches moustaches>

So the "children with autism" thread that's been deleted...I'm seeing the deletion message when I click on it, but not only is it still showing in the Active list, but its post count is still going up. It's gone from 104 to 107 during the time since it was deleted. What gives?

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 26/04/2022 13:39

It's now bumped up the Active list again, and showing as 108 posts. What's going on, @MNHQ?

I'd like to know too in respect of another thread.

Is this another 'glitch'?

itsthesoundofthepolice · 26/04/2022 13:42

I had this the other day. Every single thread I clicked on showed as deleted. Even ones with a fairly innocuous title.
I logged out and back in which fixed it for a short time but back to happening again. So logging out regularly

Greensleeves · 26/04/2022 13:46

It's bumped again, and up to 110 posts

If I were a paranoid sort, I'd think MNHQ had devised a way to exclude the more contentious posters from a thread by making them think it's been deleted...

When you add to watch list it is still there. This thread is also showing as deleted when you click on it in active posts Confused

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 26/04/2022 13:51

Now this is showing as deleted and won't allow me to post in it in watched threads, but I can post from the active list.

Greensleeves · 26/04/2022 14:02

It is very odd.

TooManyPJs · 26/04/2022 14:06

I've noticed this too - not the post count going up but loads of seemingly innocuous threads showing just a "thread deleted" message. No other info when MN usually give some sort of mini explanation.

SueMumsnet · 26/04/2022 15:02

Hi all - thanks for reporting, we're looking into this now.

KatyMumsnet · 26/04/2022 15:18

Hi, is it possible to give us the URLs of these threads or the full thread titles so we can look them up in our system and check what's going on?

Screenshots are also handy if you're seeing them in active!

Thanks!

Greensleeves · 26/04/2022 15:22

The thread title was:

To be afraid of having child(ren) with autism

It was in AIBU

Thanks for having a look @KatyMumsnet

@KatyMumsnet it was also happening on this thread saying it was deleted, then it was back but said I could not reply on a deleted thread. Also on the AMA about agoraphobia, one minute saying deleted, then suddenly back again.

ofwarren · 26/04/2022 15:43

111 comments now.. how are the comments going up if it's supposedly deleted?
Have you tried viewing it when you are not logged in?

KatyMumsnet · 26/04/2022 15:53

Thanks for that info @Greensleeves - I've checked it out and I can't see that thread in active anymore but I can see that there were posts made after the deletion happened which is not expected behaviour. We're investigating that issue now and will make sure it doesn't happen in future. Thanks for flagging it!

NippyWoowoo · 26/04/2022 18:28

Now I've just seen this...are you now able to post after a thread has reached 1000? It looks so strange 😂

It's happened to several threads for me.

The one OP mentioned, but also the one about travelling several hours for a team building exercise (seemed innocuous), and the "husband threw a curveball" one.

All suddenly deleted, with no MN deletion message explaining why. Numbers were rising on them all post-zapping too. So odd.

OnceUponAThread · 26/04/2022 19:50

@MNHQ things have definitely gone weird now. Our lovely, supportive, post-miscarriage pregnancy thread is showing as zapped. Can't imagine a single reason that would be the case? What's going on?!?

AchillesPoirot · 27/04/2022 04:25

@KatyMumsnet I reported weirdness around deleted threads days ago on the big thread what was supposed to be giving us the up to date info.

Thread that was deleted showing the whole thread but with the op replaced by the deletion message until I refreshed and then every thread after that I clicked on showing thread deleted and no posts as if it was actually deleted until I logged out. I put screenshots and everything.

I'll do so again.
