Images are tiny

When I click on an image in a post, it comes up tiny surrounded by empty white space. I have to zoom in to see it, but then too blurred to read text or make out details.

Come on, MN, this is just crap! You’ve taken something which worked fine and trashed it.

Why not post on one of the threads MN are already responding to about teething issues?

It didn't work just fine at all and needed to change. They're working hard to sort out their free site so that everybody is as happy as possible. It's been one day. Why not give it a chance?

OstrichFeathers · 21/04/2022 09:36

The images aren't working well for me either, mobile site using android. I'm ok with the other changes

toastfiend · 21/04/2022 09:50

Images aren't working properly for me either. They're tiny and clicking on them seems to just make them smaller. I also tried to post one and it randomly got rotated even though it was the right way up when I posted it. It's just hopeless.

The old site wasn't perfect, but it was much better than this one and, as far as I can see, we've ended up with this steaming pile of shite with absolutely no change in functionality, bar nested quotes, which I can't think that that many people cared about. I haven't see many calling for nested quotes, unlike the edit button, which I see people ask for on a daily basis and we still don't have.

Images are now appearing fuzzy or out of focus in the post that someone might attach them to and when I click on the actual image, it opens in a pop-out window but they are so small in that it makes them useless.

I'm posting on this thread because this one is specifically to do with how images are being seen now in the new version of MN.

LookItsMeAgain · 21/04/2022 13:59

I should add that I'm on a laptop and I'm accessing through Edge Chromium

This seems an unnecessarily harsh response. The OP is posting about site stuff on a board devoted to site stuff.

With the new updates, it's hard for some to scroll through the hundreds of messages in the other thread to see if your topic has been mentioned, so I hardly think it irrational to flag an issue on a board dedicated to flagging issues.

Mumsnet are also not responding, or not responding adequately, to many of the posts on those larger threads, meaning issues are being lost and pushed way down the thread before being dealt with, so they then undoubtedly won't be dealt with. I can absolutely see why the OP felt the need to start a new thread. It's in site stuff and hardly inconveniencing anyone.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 21/04/2022 14:11

They are tiny for me too.

SpinningMeSoftly · 21/04/2022 14:16

I'm glad for a thread specifically to flag up the tiny & blurred image problem, given it is an issue that is (a) important, and (b) thus far, unresolved.

It particularly affects MNers with sensory impairments and is also suggestive of other issues - e.g. perhaps the testing was not as rigorous as it could have been, at least with this aspect of the new platform.

I run a website and I'd be a bit ashamed tbh if this is how any of the images looked. #ShouldHaveGoneToSquarespace

Photos not working well for me either. They appear very small and also duplicate partially with another copy below. Hard to explain but took a screenshot of an example...

Brunono
Same here, I am getting the image twice, 1 normal size and 1 tiny duplicate of it below.

GCAcademic · 21/04/2022 18:01

I was about to start a thread about this. I was actually wondering if it was just me with this problem as there was a thread in Gardening where posters were able to identify a weed from OP’s picture and all I could see was a tiny green blur. But it seems it’s not just me with this problem.

Dinosauria · 21/04/2022 18:03

Also having same problem, chrome on Android.
