“Yawn”

Sortilege · 15/04/2022 18:14

Is there a policy on posts (replies) that just say “yawn”?

It’s so rude and not constructive.

I was wondering because it seems to be becoming more common.

Is Yawn the new Biscuit?

Does 'yawn' breach Talk Guidelines? there's loads of 'rude and not constructive' things posted on MN but not worthy of deletion.

Fairislefandango · 15/04/2022 18:23

Imagine how many things you'd have to ban if you set the bar as high as banning someone saying something as inoffensive as 'yawn'! I mean, I know it's dismissive and not constructive, but do we really want or need policies so strict that they come down on people for insufficient constructiveness? Grin

🥱

Mnhq are too busy to delete every non-constructive comment on here.

Ive seen some of the most colourful and Creative language on here, but yawn is offensive? Funny!!

Riapia · 15/04/2022 19:01

Yawn?

Not as ridiculous as that other favourite. “Bore off.”

Sortilege · 15/04/2022 20:18

Oh I think they’re about the same TBH. A thread full of any of that kind of thing is just so juvenile and dull.

I remembered that they did used to delete “suck it up, buttercup” and was kind of wondering where the line was.

I know it can’t be easy to decide.

OFC “Colourful & creative” is less tedious than people just yawning. Grin

“Off you fuck then, cuntychops” was so, so funny, in context. (Which was as first reply to an OP moaning about the swearing, for those who don’t know.)

People yawning isn’t colourful, creative, clever or witty, is it?

Evening all and thanks for flagging this, @Sortilege - we'd definitely moderate this sort of thing on a case by case basis tbh, depending on the context.

Is there a particular 'yawn' that's bothering you, OP? If so, please do report it directly to us and we'll be happy to take a look.

Thanks.

Thanks. I think the whole thread has gone now, actually. It was about midwives. Smile
