'Report post' button reporting wrong post

See thread title. For a while now I've thought I'm just fat thumbed or ham fisted or some variation of the two, leading to me seemingly intending to report one post and instead reporting another entirely innocuous one from the same thread.

I was willing to accept I might have got it wrong once or twice through carelessness, but today I channelled my keenest focus and accuracy and definitely reported the correct post, to still have the email from MMHQ come through with a different post highlighted. Is this happening to anyone else? Is it a known issue? I am using the Talk app on an Android phone.

Well, I had a perfectly innocuous post deleted in the last couple of weeks and no email from Mumsnet to say that it was being deleted or why. I repeated my post as I remembered it and it remains up.

Hi @TriciaMcMillan - we're sorry to hear you're having problems reporting the correct posts. We're aware that this happens to people from time to time, but we don't think it's happening more often than usual - we're certainly not getting more reports than we usually do so we don't think it's due to the upcoming platform change.

Does it tend to happen more if there's an advert on the thread in question? If you want to send in a few test reports to us from random threads (and mention this Site Stuff thread when you report!) we'll see if we can work out what's going wrong. Smile

Good idea, thanks I'll do that.

Right, I've reported 4 posts in a variety of places with clear reference to what post I clicked on. Let's see what happens.

Thanks for doing that @TriciaMcMillan - the posts you've reported are not the posts you reported...

We're going to pass this on to our tech bods now. Could you please let us know what version of the app you're using? (If you click on the three lines on the top right of the screen, it should say 'Mumsnet Talk App v.44.8' or similar.

Thank you and please bear with us while we figure out what's happening.

TriciaMcMillan · 26/03/2022 14:45

Thank you! It's v3.3.

Hi @TriciaMcMillan we've a fair idea as to why this might be happening and are working on a fix. We'll update you when we know more.
