When you post a message it would be really nice if the page went straight to the bottom to see if there have been any cross-posts

Do you mean you want it to go to the beginning of the thread? That would be a complete PITA if the thread was several hundred messages long, so no, I don't agree.

So when you post on a long thread - it shows you the last post (ie yours) rather than the first post

Not when you are reading just when you post of course you can flip - I just thought it would be a good default to show you your post (or the 7 or 8 that came before)

Na-ah - you are all missing the point

When I press "Post Message" - it adds my message to the bottom & then shows the start of the thread

I want it to show the bottom of the thread eg my post & any cross-posts

I always read threads with the latest post at the top. When I post, my message gets added to the top, and that is what I see.

It sounds like you need to change your settings so that you see threads this way round rather than the way you are.

I love haveing the threads the other way round (from top to bottom) - but the bit where I post annoys me

well, you can'thave your cake and eat it!
It's either top to bottom, but back to the 1st post or bottom to top, and straight to the last post.

I may change it - it is very annoying

Hi KatyMac, we did this a while ago but got rid of it again after many complaints.... we'll have a look at making it a switchable option or something.

Thanks Tech - I would like it as an option - but put it low on your "to do list", as it is quite petty
