Hiding thread from Trending Now

I understand that while you can hide a thread from Active, you can't hide it from Trending. Is this is planned to change on the new platform? Because being able to hide a thread but not on one of the most attention grabbing parts of the website doesn't really make sense to me.

In the meantime a work around is to switch to using the mobile site (Not the app, the old fashioned mobile site) Here Trending is displayed below the text box, with a bit of practice you can become adept at not scrolling down and thus avoid Trending.
