Just seen this on a thread I was on. Never seen this before. Is this a new thing? Is it instead of deleting a thread?

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 19/02/2022 12:18

It isn't new no, it means the thread has reached capacity I think it might be 40 pages? See if there has been a continuation thread started.

Pinkywoo · 19/02/2022 12:20

Threads have a maximum of 1000 posts, after that a new one is normally started.

ChameFangeNail · 19/02/2022 12:55

Yes I know about the 1000 posts thing. I should have said that this message I'm talking about was on an 8 page thread with only 180 messages.

Never seen that before.

If you link the thread it would be easito suggest a reason

Sometimes MNHQ lock down a thread for whatever reason

ChameFangeNail · 19/02/2022 13:12

It's this one:

OP posts:

its a zombie thread - perhaps thats why

SheWoreYellow · 19/02/2022 13:20

Someone has posted on it today though.

It looks ok to me, where do you see that it won’t accept new posts? When you go to post?

MaizeAmaze · 19/02/2022 13:59

It looked open to posts from me. Perhaps it's to do with app vs web usage?

No message for me on that thread, either it's gone now or they just want your thoughts Smile

Mrsjayy · 19/02/2022 14:06

Maybe the op asked for no more replies but it's a few months old maybe that's why.

Parpophone · 19/02/2022 14:34

If you scroll to the end of the thread then the message is there in red.

It is a zombie thread and was resurrected by somebody doing one of the intensely irritating "any update OP?" posts.

Most of the replies after that are just responding to the OP without reading the thread and it's just a waste of everyone's time.

Anytime there is a thread about bonkers threads/classics you get people asking for links and instead of just reading the thread, they feel the need to post and resurrect the thread - sometimes years later.

Wish MN would do it more often!

FlissMumsnet · 19/02/2022 20:54

Hi Parpophone,

We feel the same way about zombie threads - we'll try to make more use of the close thread option.
