Can we have a fundraising topic? For those of us fundraising as a volunteer or as a job perhaps..

There's a policy that fundraising is permitted only for registered charities (hard won experience) and there is already a topic

Hi OP

As above!

To be honest, we have a blanket ban on fundraising links because we just can't vouch for where the money goes. Whereas, registered charities can be looked at more closely.

handmademitlove · 16/02/2022 21:53

I was not thinking about links to fundraising in an 'advertising' way, more about sharing ideas and help on organising events and / or fundraising drives for those who are involved in fundraising. I couldn't find anywhere to discuss this type of thing. Volunteering and charitable giving didn't seem quite the right place.

Oh right, well in the past we have had threads in say Christmas or Primary education asking for Christmas Fayre or Summer Fete ideas or what did/didn't work. So they sit in the relevant topic, does that make sense?

FlissMumsnet · 17/02/2022 21:50

Thanks for that suggestion FlibbertyGiblets - do you think that would work handmademitlove?

handmademitlove · 18/02/2022 09:51

I have used that in the past but a general 'I have run this event here are the positives and negatives' type post would be useful. It is not all about specific events which I agree often sit elsewhere. I just thought it would be good to have it all in one place for those of us that are regularly organising events. A space to consider new ideas, makes suggestions about practical things such as regulations etc.

We're certainly more than happy to consider a topic for that but as with all topics, we create them based on how much they'd get used. We'll keep an eye on this thread and if there's a sufficient amount of interest garnered, we'll take another look! Flowers

If you’re on Facebook OP there’s a fantastic Fundraising Chat group which might suit you as it’s really active.

handmademitlove · 19/02/2022 21:30

@Cheermonger that sounds great - do you have a link?

@handmademitlove the Facebook group just called Fundraising Chat is great and there is another one called Corporate Fundraising.

It's useful as loads of people share on there about event planning, publicity material and ethical fundraising too. I've just been on a corporate free course thanks to details posted there.
