2 questions: Searching and nicknames

These are undoubtedly VERY stupid questions, but hope someone has answers:

In "talk"....

When I do a search, and then go in to read one of the threads, I don't seem to be able to then return to the list of threads found. I have to go through the whole rigmarole of re-specifying the search.

Also, how do I use an alternative nickname - to "protect anonimity"? Do I have to go in and change my registration details? I'd like to have the option of choosing between a couple (or more) of nicknames.

  1. The back button on your browser should take you back to the list - it does on mine

  2. Yes, you have to change it in your registration details. each time you want to switch a name. You can't just switch IYSWIM. Unless you register twice with 2 different email addresses in which case you can have 2 names at the same time as you're technically 2 different people

The search thing is to do with browsers I think as I asked this a few months ago.

When I use the back button it says 'webpage expired' so I hit refresh and then a small window comes up with 'retry' or 'cancel'. By selecting 'retry' it brings me back to my 'threads found' screen.

DTFSDG: thanks for the advice, it is a bit of a pain having to do that every time - but nevermind!
WTH: thanks, the refresh thing works: hurrah!

Now I'll have more efficient use of my time on Mumsnet in 2008!

Another way to do it is to right click on the link & choose 'Open in new window' (or 'new tab' if you have tabs on your browser)
Then the original search page stays open & you can go back to it as you finish with each link.

I like that one rustybear. Hope I remember it when I next do a search.
