I really object to the Drag Race ad that keeps coming on.

I find it sexist and offensive.

Love Drag Race but not seen the ad. What happens in it?

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 08/02/2022 18:07

Blokes in frocks with makeup and wigs.

It's advertising the show which is on BBC.

Yes it’s really getting on my nerves. I’m trying to read an intelligent discussion about the hate campaign against JK Rowling on the feminism boards and it’s genuinely belittling and offensive to have a bloke in a wig inserting himself into that conversation every few seconds.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 08/02/2022 18:10

I find drag very offensive.

That's what Drag Race is about. I thought everyone knew that.

Will look out for the ad!

LovejoysVase · 08/02/2022 18:16

I know what drag race is, hate having it shoved down my throat every time I go on MN.

Is sexism and misogyny in the spirit of mumsnet?

LilyMumsnet · 08/02/2022 18:32

Hi all

Can we have a screenshot of the ad?

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 08/02/2022 18:37

When it comes back on. It's just Green Planet ads atm.

There's two ads for drag programmes.

Oh the irony

SageRosemary · 08/02/2022 19:18

Oddly, my first thought was: -

www.motorsportuk.org/get-started/types-of-motor-sport/drag-racing/

and my second thought was: -

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_hunting

so I was rather surprised by your screenshots.

Could those men not dress up as hares or rabbits instead of those silly costumes and get chased by more men on horses with whips? It probably would be kinder to the environment than all those plastic sequins and it would certainly be better exercise for them and less likely to damage their feet than those silly shoes.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 08/02/2022 19:22

I don't think this should be happening here. We have enough to put up with.

That would be so entertaining, they could dress as horses and get ridden over jumps.

Hi again OP

That's an ad choices advert so it doesn't actually come from us directly.
You can manage turning this advert off by clicking the little blue triangle at the top right of the advert. Once you've done this, it should stop appearing for you.
