MNHQ, it occurs to me from reading the forums that a lot of women posting on MN have not had opportunities to pick up some basic computer/device and internet security which can leave them open to stalking from strangers or abusive exes, scams, insecure devices etc.
Do you think it would be worth running a session with someone who can teach this stuff? I would suggest covering stuff like:
- password creation and secure storage
- 2FA for email and banking
- identifying scams
- how to deal with abusive emails/social media contact
- location settings on device and apps
- posting personal and identifying content on social media and forums
- protecting devices
- shared cloud accounts
- stalking using hidden devices
I realise that this can be quite complex stuff for a lot of people but women especially are vulnerable and if you can get some good people I think this would be a really worthwhile session.
