Has anyone else noticed this happening frequently over the past few days? Sometimes it’s every few threads and occasionally a ‘page crashed as multiple errors occurred’ too.

iPhone, safari user if that helps. Thanks!

Just me then? Every 3rd or 4th thread right now 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not just you, happens often on my elderly iPad too. But I think it's an equipment issue rather than MN, because it also happens on other sites for me.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 19/01/2022 02:58

Thanks @HirplesWithHaggis, must admit my poor wee iPhone is not in it’s first second or third youth, but never had this problem until this week, and not on any other sites.

Thinking it might be an advert issue that needs looking at? Tried the obvious steps and still the same 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had it constantly on my very old iPad which I replaced.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 19/01/2022 13:53

Interesting, thank you. It doesn’t seem to do it on DHs same vintage phone though, although I’m not logged in on that. I’ll have a go.

Hi OP!

Couple of things - could we have a screenshot of the error, so that we can see what you're seeing?

And can you try logging out and back in again? That tends to sort out so many issues, so it's always worth trying!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 22/01/2022 03:34

Thank you @LilyMumsnet! I’d tried logging out and back in and it didn’t help, but since it was fine on DHs phone I deleted all history and it seems ok for the last hour!

Now to learn how to take screenshots Blush and remember 300 login/password combinations 🤦🏻‍♀️

Logging out and in didn’t help btw

GreenClock · 22/01/2022 23:09

I had this all the time on Mumsnet (and the Guardian) with my old iPhone. I upgraded last autumn and have had no issues since.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 23/01/2022 01:01

Spoke too soon. It’s back, last hour or so.

If it’s a elderly Iphone issue surely it would be doing it all the time? And on DHs phone too? And why start over the last couple of weeks?

I’d be very sad to lose MN, but at least I’d get more done 😂

This happens constantly when I use my sons iPhone 6 and my old iPhone 6 but when I use my iPhone 8 it doesn’t ever do it, thought it was just me!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 23/01/2022 02:40

Very, very rarely happened before the last couple of weeks, still not on DH phone, and varies from almost unusable (every couple of pages) to fine for a period of time...

Well clearing website data in Safari preferences has solved it for me. Seems that having a load of cookies was borking the site, for me at least. I guess if you’re on an older device, having a few weeks/months of history and cookies messes everything up.

Glisil · 23/01/2022 11:00

Yes me too. The issues seem to resolve for me if you don’t try to opt out of the tracking cookies. Which annoys me.

BHX3000 · 23/01/2022 11:02

This happens to me a lot but not just on Mumsnet. It’s the phone’s fault mainly, I turn it off and on again and it solves it.

Phrenologistsfinger · 23/01/2022 11:15

Happens a lot to me too on my older iphone. So annoying! Also happens to DP on new android - he is a coder and v techy and he says it is to do with the ads and that MN is basically unusable as a result.

KimMumsnet · 27/01/2022 11:43

Hi, all.
This issue seems to be an issue with Safari, as opposed to MN (we know it happens on other sites, too), and can usually be solved by clearing your cache and cookies. Updating your software can also fix it.

If that's all too much of a faff, using a different browser is a good workaround.
