Telling someone YABU isn't in the spirit of the site?

Hard for this not to be a TAAT but I was on a thread and since I last saw it, it's been deleted because mn agreed with the OP that it had become not in the spirit of the site! Has AIBU gone soft? Is mn now deleting just because an OP doesn't like the answers?

MN has been deleting threads for similar reasons for a while now, it's not new. I didn't see the thread but I'm pretty sure they didn't just delete or say 'it isn't in the spirit' because you told someone YABU.

C'mon now.

I wonder if it was the lumpy one I was on.
AIBU? yes
thread deleted. (unless somehow it went very random.)~

Yes, it was quite a lumpy thread.

Hi OP

When deleting threads, if it's making someone's life more difficult, then we will take it down.

We're here to make parents lives easier - so we're not too precious about keeping threads that just aren't doing that!

LilyMumsnet · 14/01/2022 17:52

But no - we don't delete for someone being told YABU! There would be a lot more too it than that. Flowers

This has gone on for years now.

Don’t like the answers you are getting, get the thread deleted.

grapewine · 15/01/2022 13:08

If it's the lumpy one I'm thinking of, it was literally because OP didn't like the answers she was getting. It's was an OP issue but obviously that wasn't a welcome conclusion. The deletion was ridiculous.

But it's not a new thing.

MindyStClaire · 15/01/2022 17:08

Yes I saw the lumpy thread - nothing offensive in the replies when I saw it, just plenty of people telling OP she was indeed BU.

Also saw one the other day that was deleted as "it was early days" - it had been running for a couple of days! OP just didn't like being told that she shouldn't interfere between a father and daughter who weren't even related to her.
