Italics revisited...

There seems to be a few problems with the new italics. If you want to put in a date 10102001 see, it takes out the /s and puts the month in italics. This also happens when you use them in a list of alternatives ie dogcatrabbit when you wanted dog / cat / rabbit.

Can we get rid of using / for italics and stick to ^?

hello hausfrau. If you want to italicize multiple words, put pairs of ^ characters surrounding each one and leave spaces between them....
