Weird problem I can't even explain

ShowOfHands · 08/12/2021 20:05

This happened a couple of weeks ago and I almost started a thread but logged out and in again and it self resolved.

I can't even tell you what's wrong. It seems to be related to copying and pasting as that's what triggered it last time. I copied something to add to a reply and when I attempted to add it, the whole page changed to look like an entirely different thread I'd previously visited. Tapping on the screen and trying to scroll brought the message box back but for example, if I noticed an error in what I was typing and clicked on the error in order to delete/overwrite it, the same page would suddenly appear. I know that doesn't make sense. I've just copied and pasted something else and it's doing it again. For example, if I click on the word 'copied' in the sentence above as if I were going to delete it or just to move my cursor up there to add something, I'm suddenly transported to seeing an entirely different page (a thread in chat about Christmas in fact) but I'm unable to interact with that thread iyswim. It's just like a screenshot of it almost.

Two screenshots. Both taken while creating this thread. One is how I expect the page to look whilst creating a new thread. The second is after I tapped on my already written paragraph in order to amend or correct a word. Suddenly seeing an entirely different thread.

I'm on Chrome on Android.

eek, that is jolly peculiar, Showy Shock

ShowOfHands · 08/12/2021 20:15

Isn't it. I can't edit a single thing I write without seeing a thread I posted on about Christmas presents.

I feel like I'm having some kind of out of body experience, whipped away to places I didn't want to be. Is this what alcohol feels like.

Well the plot thickens.
My post on this thread linking to another thread, is doing the same. V v strange.

Oh that sounds right up my alley, ta.

WoodenReindeer · 09/12/2021 10:27

This has happened to me. When Im trying to type in a reply box it clicks rhrough to a different mumsneg page.

JuneOsborne · 09/12/2021 10:29

I thought my phone was being shit but this happens to me too!

I type a message and then half way through the page changes to the last thread I looked at. If I start typing again I'm back in the right place.

Well weird!

FlibbertyGiblets · 09/12/2021 11:22

Hoping HQ bods aren't too baffled by this newest weirdness!

ShowOfHands · 09/12/2021 21:11

Oh I am relieved it's not just me. It is still doing it. It does look like it's clicking through to somewhere else but you can't interact with this phantom page and if you type/tap, the original page reappears. I'm currently looking at this message box as I type but if I click anywhere within it, I see an Amazon page!

We absolutely are but we're undeterred; this will be investigated as we too are wondering what on earth is going on??
FlibbertyGiblets · 12/12/2021 01:09

I feel we need an East Enders drum break up our sleeves, Fliss.

Dun Dun Dun-Dun Dun-Dun etc.

ShowOfHands · 20/03/2022 12:08

It's doing it again. If I try and edit anything I'm writing in the comment box, I'm seeing a Google image search for wisteria that I did about an hour ago. Tap on the screen and I'm back to the comment box.

Wtf is it as a glitch?

Oi. HQ!

Today it's a page about roses which keeps flashing up whenever I tap on the text box whilst typing. You can see from the screenshot that the address is still MN, it's just a phantom ghost of a page I had open earlier today. It's definitely a MN glitch and happening all the time now.

Hi, OP.
Thanks for your screenshots - that's super helpful. We're looking into this at the moment so please bear with us.

Hi again, OP.

Could you possibly post the links to the threads on which this has happened?

Can you also let us know if the random pages that are appearing for you are of other tabs which you have open in your browser?
If you could close down any other tabs you have open and see if the issue still happens, that would be useful.

Thanks for your help with this - we are trying to get to the bottom of it as we speak!

ShowOfHands · 31/03/2022 11:28

It's not doing it at the moment (there's no rhyme or reason to it). It just starts doing it at random points during the day. It isn't tabs I currently have open which show, it's ones I've had open in the minutes/hours before the glitch occurs as far as I can tell. It's always the same page I can see though. For as long as the glitch continues and then next time it happens, it does it with another random page I've looked at recently and keeps showing that one until it has a rest from doing it and then it's a different page again.

And when it's happening, it's on every single thread I open. It doesn't discriminate. As soon as it happens again, I'll note the thread I'm on and which phantom page it's displaying.

It's just started doing it on this thread and is now doing it on every thread I look at. The phantom page it's displaying is a link I looked at around 20 minutes ago. It's the last page I looked at which wasn't a MN page and it was linked directly from here.
