Some users seemingly having "protected" status

Hey @MNHQ

Why do some users seemingly have "protected" status on here?

There are some who regularly troll, post comments which are deliberately unhelpful at best, often rude, sarcastic etc. yet their posts almost never get moderated. However when anyone replies to them in a similar tone, or disagreeing with them, those replies get "moderated" almost instantly, with replies moderated out of existence merely by the nature of disagreeing with them?

Why are certain posters allowed to get away with almost anything, what is the reason that they gain this special status?

Thanks

Shopdragon well there is kind of a clue in the name of the forum, but because men also join, this could account for most of the problems.

Glad to see the thread about the massacre has been reinstated.

Can you not read the bit that says "for parents by parents" then?

Although even that isn't accurate given on-parents also join.

Non-parents

MNHQ make it clear every time this comes up that MN has always been aimed at parents but PN would sound clumsy.

I very much doubt any men get protected status, a man saying all the problems on the site are caused by women (as you have about men) would probably get banned.

I once saw a poster who was sharing very dangerous advice. When people replied stating how reckless they were being, the replies were deleted for being “rude” so the terribly dangerous advice stayed up with very little opposition remaining.

That thread did concern me.
