Why can't I vote?

I use the app. I realise you can vote on the webpage but surely most people use the app...?
I dunno. Is it worth using the webpage instead?
And why can't better voting functionally be built into the app? It's 2021 after all, not the 90s.

I thought this too. I only recently discovered that you can receive messages but it can only be viewed on the webpage. I find it quite strange as surely you should be able to do the exact same things on the app, if not more?!

I personally find the webpage outdated and harder to use as opposed to the app tho!

Yeah, it's strange isn't it. Most of the time there are benefits to using the app over a webpage but I'm not sure there is with mumsnet (...I guess aside from it being simpler).

I can’t vote on either the webpage or the app. No voting buttons. No stats on how the voting is going. I’m always surprised when people say, “65% of people agree with me,” etc, as I’ve no idea how people vote, how they know the stats, or what they can see.

Hi @daisypond, could you please take a look at your Talk Settings? Scroll down to the bottom - is the 'Show AIBU polls' box ticked?

Unfortunately the AIBU vote function isn't available on the app right now but it's definitely something we're working on for the future.

If you want to vote on an AIBU thread (or see the vote) you'll have to switch to the web version for now.

@bratzdoll - Private Messaging is also not currently available on the app, but it's something we're working on for the future.

AIBU voting doesn't work on a desktop, either. Or, rather, it does - but only after I've RTFT and then go back up to the top. Is this a cunning plan on the part of HQ?

Talk Settings are fine. And the voting boxes appear once I've got to the end of the thread and scrolled back again (until then, there's just white screen). I'm using a new iMac if that helps you in any techno way. Can't comment on the app as I am a Luddite and don't have a phone/device which is one reason I've stuck around on MN for so many years
