Tech, please could you tell me how you consider a thread spent. Is it when it reaches 1000 posts or is it a word limit? Or what...and why can a thread not go on for infinity?

It's when it reaches about 1000 posts. There is one exception that I can think of.

They stop at 1000 posts, or just after.
I think that it is to do with how long they take to load, but may be wrong about this.
Tech can open threads for more posts on occassion - like the McCann one.
