So, sticky threads

Are they just for site stuff, or what?

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 13/12/2007 09:13

i dont have them no controversy chez mumsnet zippi babe

TenLordsaLapin · 13/12/2007 09:18

Please can we have a sticky demanding that zippi go back to normal!!!

It's a tricky one hunker. There certainly are threads that would benefit from the exposure of being "sticky", but then who decides which ones will be? And of course some people (like zippi hun ) hide them so in a way it's counter-productive to sticky.

I think stickies for MN site stuff, and active bumping for everything else is probably the best way IMO.

AwayInAMunker · 13/12/2007 09:19

I agree with you, Lapin.

Possibly stickies for things like the Christmas present thingummy though, largely to piss Cod off

AwayInAMunker · 13/12/2007 09:19

Sorry, zippi babe, meant to say lol hun

TenLordsaLapin · 13/12/2007 09:22

But the Christmas thing still isn't MNHQ, is it... and then we'd get the "well, if that's a sticky why can't the Swaps be stickied" thing (not that Champs would, and it would be a fair point anyway, but you know what I mean)

AwayInAMunker · 13/12/2007 09:25

I think any thread I start should be stickied, actually.

Is the book club thread still stickied? I vanished that one sharpish and nothing seems to have come back, but I may have hidden all book chat from my version of MN.

OP posts:
TenLordsaLapin · 13/12/2007 09:28

No, it's gone, they generally don't leave things there for very long.

AwayInAMunker · 13/12/2007 09:31

Why are you avoiding my eggs?

What have they ever done to you?

OP posts:
FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 13/12/2007 09:34

lmao!

I am like zippi, I destickied everything anyway

OliviaMumsnet · 13/12/2007 11:41

Duly noted. I would say something about discussing this at our next meeting but am sure Lapin will say something cheeky.

Yes I think that's a good plan - stickies for site business only bumping for other important stuff. (Of course what constitutes site business in entirely and completely our decision )

JustineMumsnet · 13/12/2007 11:48

p.s. anyone who bans stickies from their options may find that their competition entries will have mysteriously disappeared from the hat when it comes to prize-giving time.

DingDongJeremyOnVile · 13/12/2007 11:50

Why the frig have MNHQ sent Cod presents???

WHY??

I might go and start a thread...

..."PROOF THAT MNHQ FAVOUR COD AND ALLOW HER TO TERRORISE THE BOARDS COS SHE'S THEIR FAVOURITE"

oh, yes. That has a nice ring to it.

....and chocolate.

Dont forget the chocolate.

StarofBethleCam · 13/12/2007 11:54

That's cos they want to keep in with the judiciary

SquonkaClaus · 13/12/2007 11:55

IMO

(in case you want it...)

stickies should be for site stuff that we need to know about but wouldn't necessarily go looking for.

Things that are 'of interest' will either be bumped quite naturally or can be actively bumped by people who care about the thread.

Site stuff that we are interested in, we will go and find out for ourselves (ie: book club, swaps etc.)

Live chats with rl people should be stickied for the duration of the chat.

and that's what I think.

ooh, and notifications of live chats coming up, they should be stickied as well

(but not cod )

Do you remember those sticky toy things that you could re-stickify by rubbing washing up liquid into their plasticcy rubbery bodies... you chucked them at the wall and over a period of one or two minutes they kind of 'walked' down the wall..

anyway, I'm imagining cod as one of those slowly working her way down the wall after being stickied

TenLordsaLapin · 13/12/2007 12:55

"ooooOOOhhh" says Cod, "I dno;t like thos estikcies"
