When is someone going to fix the search function??

It's absolutely shocking and seems to lurch from one fault to another. Has it ever worked properly for any length of time?

I saw a poster make a really, really stupid comment on a thread (don't all rush at once to try and guess which one it was, time is limited ) and went to AS their posts to try and see if they have a habit of making stupid comments, or if they were your garden variety troll.

Except, the thread and the comment in question doesn't even appear in the list of their posts, instead it only shows one other comment, from earlier today.

I want back to the comment I saw, just to check if it had been hidden or something, but no, it's still there.

So WHY is the search function set up to only show some comments? Does this apply to every user or is it completely random?

I guess if you don't even acknowledge the issues, you won't be arsed fixing them?

I’ve no idea which thread you mean, but yes, I’ve noticed that the search function regularly fails to work properly. Frequently it shows zero results for a poster /thread/keyword I search for. Even if the same thread is strong my TIO, or the word I’m searching is a perfectly normal word that I’ve spelled correctly & actually seen in a thread. Infuriating. Why can MNHQ not get these basic issues sorted? It’s been going on for years now.

Don't hold your breath OP! It's been brought to @MNHQ 's attention numerous times but nothing ever changes ! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I agree the search function is poor. I use the Android app and get results from years back but nothing recent. If I really want to find something I use Google and type something like 'parking thread CF mumsnet'. That usually brings up what I want!
