Would it be possible to have a list of say ten of the last threads we've created and/or posted on? Or just a technical nightmare? I forget what I've started and posted on. Or perhaps possible to download a new memory for my poor overwrought brain?

Good idea, i think it was suggested b4. Maybe too much 4 Tech...?

prettycandles · 12/11/2004 14:24

Definitely second this. My pet request (I ask for it about once or twice a year, but no luck yet) is for a way of finding out whether threads on which you (or any particular other Mumsnetter) have posted have had further postings. In other words to be able to search for new messages since XYZ date on threads where poster ABC has posted, but not for that poster's new messages IYSWIM.

in theory it's possib;e to receive email copies of the postings of your choice... at least I think so as dh is getting heaps of mails from hos fav marine fish board. Probably software dependent. I'll check with him when he gets home

prettycandles · 15/11/2004 14:14

It doesn't work if you're checkingup on any other day, though. Eg, if you've been away from Mumsnet for a few days and want to catch up on threads on which you have posted.

wobblyknicks · 15/11/2004 14:16

prettycandles - put the last day you know you were up to date - say if I'd been away for 4 days and had come back today I'd do the same search but put 11th Nov to search from.

prettycandles · 15/11/2004 15:17

Maybe I'm being a bit derrr, but I don't get it! If I last posted on, say, Friday 12 Nov, was away for the weekend and wanted to catch up today, then entering 'prettycandles' in the user field and 12 nov 04 in the date field would simply bring up those threads on which I posted on 12 Nov. It wouldn't tell me whether anyone else had posted, on them - not until I'd gone into each thread - and it wouldn't tell me whether anyone had posted on any earlier thread.

What would help - if Tech doesn't want to modify the search abilities - would be for the report to list the date of the last poster next to the thread title field, rather than the date of the last post by the person who's name you have just searched by. After all, that information is right under the title field, next to the poster's name, so to have it repeated is redundant.

Hi there,
We're just working on a couple of things along those lines -
"my threads" ie threads I've contriburted to
and "threads I'm watching", which would let you add threads to a personal list and look at the latest messages on them.

Regards,
Tech

wahey tech- lovely jubbly. It'll make things so much easier. you are the best

prettycandles · 16/11/2004 13:44

Hooray! Thank you tech!

prettycandles · 16/11/2004 13:45

Oh, just thought - will 'my threads' search by nickname or real name - ie will it recognise name-changes?

hunkermunker · 16/11/2004 13:46

Fab! Thanks! Not that it'll help me get the housework done though - could you please put a 'sod off and clean your sitting room' button on the page too?

Forgot to say THANK YOU TECH!

Can I be really ungrateful now, and ask for an option to set a date from for the Threads I'm On choice?

Also (and a bit by-the-by) could you put the topics list in alphabetical order in the Search Current/Archive Messages option?

Thanks again, I love the new 'button'
