"Tell me about your DD's boobs/periods/knickers/pee habits" threads

Come on @MNHQ, a poster might have built up a bit of posting history (not exactly hard to do) but a blind man on a galloping horse can see that 95% of these threads are trolls looking for wank fodder. Any thread detailing a teen's (or younger) boobs/underwear/peeing proclivities or similar - and if it's boobs they ALWAYS include the size which is ALWAYS a glamour modelesque '32DD/34DD/36DD' Hmm - and ends "tell me about your daughters' experiences" has so many troll red flags all over it, the site may as well have a page banner of a bridge with "fappers welcome" at the top.

Can't something be done about it? I know it's up to individuals to use a bit of common sense and not leap in with detailed descriptions of their own DD falling out of a bikini / leaking through a tampon or whatever, but they are becoming increasingly prevalent and it's giving the site a bad name and a sleazy feel. At the very least, if MNHQ insist the OP is genuine, if they're posted in one of the high traffic areas could they be moved to a more relevant sub-forum on the site...maybe getting fewer responses might put off some of the creeps.

Hello @VeryLongBeeeeep - thanks for your feedback. It's fair to say MN, like most online forums, attracts a wide variety of trolls - some more niche (bleach, box rooms) than others - but tbh the majority don't get to stay for long. (Interestingly, when we talked to mods on other sites, we discovered that the same trolls do the rounds. It's a peculiar hobby.) There are definite areas of 'interest' for them but, equally, many genuine MNers have legitimate questions about periods/boobs/knickers/pee. We would not want a situation where a genuine poster was unable to get advice on any of the above because they're automatically assumed to be trolling.

Was there a thread in particular that made you suspicious? (We don't have a recent report from you). Your suggestion to move threads is a good one - thanks. We'll definitely take that onboard.

I think the principle of 'giving the benefit of the doubt for the benefit of others' is well past its sell-by date, @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet.

UnfinishedBunting · 15/10/2021 18:24

Yes, it's pretty horrible to read these OPs and to feel that they're probably not genuine. I'm not sure what the solution is though. Maybe men could stop being disgusting pigs.

TheVolturi · 15/10/2021 18:27

Maybe anything like that has to go in a specific section (are there word filters on mn?) and you can only post on that particular section after you've been active for a while? Not just signed up and lurked? Grasping at straws here...

Handsnotwands · 15/10/2021 18:33

The problem is, when all this was just fields, there was a level of self moderation. You could say “what a grotesque post, it has real pervy undertones”. Now if you said that you’d get deleted while the perve faps on 🤷🏼‍♀️

Troll - - pointing out the obvious- - hunting attracts a harsher penalty than being an obvious, overt and repetitive degenerate

IComeInPeace · 15/10/2021 18:35

I agree op
I avoid those threads and feel bad for people sharing willingly

So someone genuine looking for some help for their child/them can't post asking??. A lot of people don't have friends they can ask or would rather ask someone that doesn't know their child. Or get several opinions. Things like period pants are expensive & knowing which ones have been good & which aren't, or the best place to go fir day bras for teenagers that are well developed etc.

Yes, there are hairy handed truckers that post, but if you're suspicious - report the post. Don't deny genuine people the help they need.

There's definitely that too!!!
TheVolturi · 15/10/2021 18:58

Yeah I agree. But tbf it would be unusual for something so personal to be your first post though?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/10/2021 18:59

What about if MNHQ step in like they do on the begging threads where the OP is struggling financially?

Something like:

We are not saying this OP is a troll. It could well be a genuine concern. However, sometimes MN attracts people who find subjects like this appealing for all the wrong reasons. If you are thinking of posting intimate details, please be mindful of your/your children's privacy and how the information might be used.

Merlotmmm · 15/10/2021 19:00

Users on here can be so ignorant too. Why wouldn't you check someone's history before replying and just because others have replied doesn't mean the poster is legit. People forget it's a public forum.

AuntieStella · 15/10/2021 19:06

When there are lots of reports about a thread talking about the specific size bra and asking for other users stories, I think @MNHQ should consider it trolling, but give longstanding posters benefit of the doubt that they might have made an error of judgement rather than being a downright perve.

They could tell the poster why the phraseology is unacceptable, and suggest better - such as 'which retailers sell narrow back/large cup bras' or 'I'm on a limited budget, which if the cheaper period pants are worth it?'
