Anyone else having probs with AOL?

It will let me sign on (obviously!) and even send emails but it won't access any web pages - I just get one of those error messages - page not found or whatever.

Internet explorer is working ok. Is it just me? (I never know if I've done something stupid by accident) PITA as I'm actually trying to do work and all the websites I use are bookmarked on AOL so I have to keep laboriously extracting the URL from there and pasting it into the IE box.

It's happening here as well. You can't call because lines are too busy, which must mean that it is happening to many people. Thank goodness we can get onto Mumsnet. Have to go down there and sort someone out otherwise lol

beansmum · 10/11/2004 16:32

yep, happening to me too. only just let me onto MN, been trying for a while!

Just tried to open a couple of websites and it has let me in. Not sure if problem solved though, because I'd rather be chatting on here.

KBear · 10/11/2004 16:36

I think they might be updating their website - I just got into it and it looks different to the usual layout.

JanH · 10/11/2004 16:46

Oh, phew, huge relief, thanks all! (DH defo thought I'd done something stupid by accident!)

I havent been able to access any web pages for an hour
Working again though

LIZS · 10/11/2004 17:16

Couldn't access email by Autoaol earlier

JanH · 10/11/2004 17:18

Thanks, whimsy! I've tried it and it's working for me now too - will tentatively try going back to doing things sensibly.

This is one of the wonders of mumsnet of course - finding out that "anyone else" IS having the same problems and it's not just you!

It's a bit slow - hope we don't break it again!

Oh thought it was just me.

I couldn't access any pages either, tried shutting down and restarting etc but nothing.

Have just put it back on and it has re sorted my files or something and then changed my connection settings.

Gobbledigook · 10/11/2004 18:11

I used to have AOL a few years ago and found it utterly crap. THEN when you try to cancel to change to someone else, it's nigh on impossible.

Obviously did it eventually and now on BTOpenworld which is far better.

Just in case you were wondering

JanH · 10/11/2004 18:13

It's absolutely wonderful usually. (Nobody's perfect.)

Aw, poor you, YG.

Hope it comes soon. Don't spend too much on phone calls in the meantime!

ggglimpopo has no computer at all atm - it's buggered (worm or trojan or something) - I just got a sad little text

(Thought that might make you feel better though I know it probably won't!)
