I keep getting annoying adverts in the middle of threads
Is this a thing now?

Yes. It's a thing.

I reported it as they appeared in a thread I was trying to read by someone who was distressed in chat and was told they're going to appear there. I raised a concern because of the assumption threads in chat aren't serious in nature, I suspect AIBU will be next and can be inappropriate.

Makes reading threads very hard for me as they eat mobile data.

I've now had them on a thread in AIBU.

BillywigSting · 11/09/2021 23:57

I've had them bloody all over the place. Chewing through data and very distracting and highly irritating.

Poor call HQ.

Yes. Every thread I've looked at today, including some distressing ones have had these ads on. It's very expensive for those on pay as you go and not everyone has most recent equipment to run ad blockers. Good way to lose readers/encourage more to use adblockers.

Clothes I've looked at haunt me

I'm getting baby weaning ads most of the time which are totally inappropriate for some threads I've been on AND have no relation to what I view online.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 13/09/2021 10:56

I’m still getting these today on iPad and safari. Also no interest in Paw Patrol or weaning! And the chocolate cake one is doing nothing to help me stick to my diet. I’ve managed to sort my settings so I get no other ads on MN, but these are, it seems, non-negotiable.

Hi @MrsTulipTattsyrup thanks for flagging this issue. We're taking a look into it now. Flowers
