Dark mode for mobile app

Is there any chance MNHQ might add dark mode option, like Twitter and Reddit have, to the Mumsnet Talk app someday? Makes it much easier to read the app at night.

Maybe it's been asked before, but I did do a search in the app and nothing came up!

Hi @Preech,

It has been asked before, once or twice. Smile It's definitely something that's on our long-term list but it's not likely to happen soon, we're afraid.

Which mobile do you have? If you have an iPhone, you should be able switch to dark mode.

Thanks, it's an iPhone XR and I do have dark mode set to kick in at night, but it doesn't seem to have an effect on the Mumsnet Talk App. Have just switched it to dark mode all day to see if it would have an effect that way, but it still doesn't. Thanks anyway!

Hi again @Preech,

I use an old iPhone 5 and if you triple-click the home button, it inverts the colours so the screen turns black with white text (and jazzy green usernames!)

I think with newer iPhones you can still triple-click the home key and then select 'Smart Invert'. If that doesn't work, try opening Settings, then Display & Text Size, then toggling the Smart Invert button.

Do let us know how you get on. Smile

Ah, smart invert works. Thanks.

Glad to hear it Smile
