Active threads, "last reply by poster X"

First, apologies if I'm still half asleep here...

But I'm positive that my active threads used to not only list who started the thread, but who was the latest person to reply? But atm it doesn't?

Have I done something, or did it change months ago and I just haven't noticed til now, or did I just dream the whole thing? 😄

I've been wondering this! It's been this way for a while, and I miss it.

Hmm, it's still showing for me on the desktop site, Chrome - I've just checked the Site Stuff thread list and it shows your name, @ThisIsSimplyBeyond in the the Started By column, and @IchHabeSiebenFlowers's name in the Latest column.

Are you both using the desktop site? Please can you let us know which browser you're using so we can check this out for you.

I'm on the desktop site, but on safari, on iPad.

I can still see it on site stuff (and other subjects), it's on the active list that it has disappeared. If it was indeed ever there

I wondered about that too.

I use MN Classic so have never had the 'started by' bit but it always used to say who was the last MNer to post. That's now disappeared.

I use Opera on the desktop site.

Thanks for bringing this up - we made the changes because we’re actually trying to make active more consistent across different platforms, so we are testing some techy things out. We really value the feedback and will pass it over to our development team!

I think there was a thread in Site Stuff about this when it first disappeared. IIRC it wasn't positive.

I hate not having it there - I found it useful. I'm not sure why things have to be "consistent across different platforms" when this means losing things.

It's been like this for me for a while too - internet explorer on the desktop. I don't like it!

Yes, we mentioned this was a rubbish change at the time and got told to lump it, essentially. It's still really annoying to not be able to see who last commented on it with clicking it.

Yes, I posted about this a few weeks ago - it is a really useful feature, and I really don't understand why it's been removed.

I understand that you might want more consistency between the app and the desktop site, but you also have to recognise that they are very different ways of viewing MN, and that the amount of info available to show on a mobile screen is always going to be less compared to that of a desktop.

Isn't the whole point of desktop and mobile versions that you can have a pared down version of the full site for smaller devices?

Yes. But MNHQ seem to be going in the opposite direction! Paring down the desktop site so that it 'matches' the mobile app.
