No option to use a different user name?

This used to be easy, and I used to swap sometimes to a different user name for anonymity on certain topics. I can't see how to do it any more. Any ideas?

Are you using the app or mobile site? On the app you can manually type it in. Tap in the username box. Or tap on the three lines top right and change it underMy Mumsnet tab.

I agree I am sure it used to be easier.

Can you let us know what device and browser you're using to access the site? It will help us direct you.

I'm using the Google Chrome browser on my android phone. It used to be that before you click post you had the option to change your name. I can't see how to do that now.

Well it's only gone and come back again now! It definitely wasn't there earlier.

@CarolineMumsnet I've just realised where it's not fine. If I try to start a new thread I have no option to use a different name. Is there anything I can do about this? I don't like to talk about some topics under my normal MN name.

Hi @MyOtherProfile thanks for flagging this. You will only be able to have one username at a time, linked to your account. You are then free to change this, but not to have several different names at any one time. Hope this helps, and give us a shout if you need any more help with anything.

@soniamumsnet I don't quite understand that. I can use a different username to comment if I choose to currently. For example in general posts I use this name but for posts related to anything professional on MN I switch to another user name for anonymity. It's just if I try to start a new thread I can't switch username.

Hi @MyOtherProfile thanks for confirming - if you completely sign out of the site, are you able to try starting a new thread with a different name and also with a different browser please? Let us know if you're still having problems.
