I'm sure this has been said before but I'm going to say it again.
Please can we edit our posts?!
Every other forum on the planet allows you to edit your own posts.
If nothing else it would let me correct my own typos.

I'm so glad that MN still has its own characteristics

And that people have to stand by what they posted in the first place

grapewine · 17/07/2021 07:17

You're speaking into the void on this one. They could add an edit function, if they wanted to. They don't want to, and it's shit.

Estherpologist · 17/07/2021 07:46

I'm sure I'm wasting my time asking, but it won't happen if no one asks.

And it's not about people standing by what they said - you can change your name and post whatever you want and then change it back, so whilst MN admin can see who said what, MN members can't necessarily.

On sites where you can edit your posts, there's a marker put on the post to say you have edited it, and sometimes a box for you to record an explanation. People are usually on the ball about calling out dirty editing.

grapewine · 17/07/2021 15:41

And they could allow a timed editing window that says edits have been made. It's not hard. Other forums do it.

It's simply that they don't want to.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/07/2021 16:36

And I don't care that they don't want to.

Even when my posts are nigh on incoherent with mispers.

It's part of the site personality.

Just type up a correction.
Stand by your opinion.
Change your mind
Whatever...

LivMumsnet · 18/07/2021 22:28

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this - we will, of course, pass them on.

HebeMumsnet · 21/07/2021 11:52

Morning, everyone.

Just to say an edit button is already in the pipeline (no date as yet on when it will happen but it is something we are hoping to do.)

There was discussion about it on this thread if you want to read more about what JustineMumsnet said at the time. Obviously that was a while ago so plans may change but it is something that's very much on the list.

It seems The Void is listening. ❤

So, is there a way to edit posts yet?

I'm new and I can't find it.

Whinge · 27/04/2022 08:07

Hi @Goodpepper, welcome to the site.

I'm sorry to say mumsnet still doesn't have an edit button.

gamerchick · 27/04/2022 08:09

I'd quite like the site to be stable first before faffing with it

Goodpepper · 27/04/2022 08:12

Hi @Whinge

Thanks for the welcome!

What about an edit lever? 😶

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/04/2022 15:51

Be good to be able to edit with a minute

when it posts and I think ahhhh misspelt

RaptureGal · 16/09/2022 01:23

In my case it wasn't a misspelling ... it was an accidental strike-through of words that looked as if I insulted England. As an American that's embarrassing! 🙀

Thymely · 29/10/2022 20:55

It is irritating, you just make a little mistake and you can't change it even seconds later. Mostly it's not life changing just makes you feel stupid for a silly error.
