Can you please do something about the ridiculous adverts in threads. Every time I scroll through I end up clicking on them continuously.

I get you need Ad revenue but can you please make them less sensitive!

Agreed!! Thought it was just me!!

mynameiscalypso · 10/07/2021 21:39

Yes! I don't know how many open tabs I currently have for a Royal Caribbean cruise thanks to that bloody advert.

Eh1112 · 10/07/2021 21:42

I couldn't agree more! I'm also stuck with the cruise ad Hmm

LilyMumsnet · 11/07/2021 11:04

Hi all

Is the advert auto-opening, or are you clicking it by accident?

Can you let us know what devices and browsers you're using to access the site? Flowers

Eh1112 · 11/07/2021 11:27

For me, it's when you scroll down the page. The action of touching the screen is enough to click the ad (which then takes you to the ad page). This doesn't happen on any other website for me including sites like Facebook which is full of ads. It's like the ads are so sensitive they open at the slightest touch of the screen. I'm using an IPhone. I'm using Mumsnet far less because of it.

mynameiscalypso · 11/07/2021 11:46

I'm using the app on my iPhone. I think I'm clicking it by mistake but it's so sensitive and seems to take up such a larger area that it happens nearly every time I see it. Like others, I don't have the problem with any other website and generally manage to avoid clicking on adds constantly but this one is different for some reason

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 14/07/2021 21:09

The cruise advert is ridiculous. I don't seem to have this problem with any other advert.
I currently have 14 tabs open for this company.
I only have to put my finger or thumb near the advert and it opens.
I'm using an iPhone and the Mumsnet app. I've also commented on the other thread about this too.

Hi all,

We're still investigating this one so please do bear with us. Flowers

TreeWizard · 18/07/2021 06:13

I have the same issue. That cruise ad is beyond annoying. I'm not a fan of cruises anyway but if I were to ever change my mind and book one, I would deliberately not book this company as I'm sick of their advert constantly popping open in Safari. So annoying.

Shapesorted · 18/07/2021 06:29

Also might I suggest the bereavement section is AD free?

I was reading about a poor woman's loss the other day and ads for holidays and furniture interspersed seemed insensitive.

JustineMumsnet · 20/07/2021 17:13

Apologies for this ad - we've contacted the provider and it should have stopped now.

Thanks also for the nudge on ads on the bereavement (and miscarriage) boards @Shapesorted - they shouldn't have been there as we've always steered clear of ads on these topics but a glitch had meant they were showing. We've fixed that now.

In general you'll see fewer ads if you're logged in and no display ads at all if you sign up to Premium

pannikin · 21/07/2021 16:37

@JustineMumsnet I'm still getting the annoying Royal Caribbean threads - must have about 10 tabs open for them. It's making scrolling threads on the app incredibly frustrating.

daisyjgrey · 21/07/2021 19:00

Oh I thought this was just me. Doesn't happen on any other app so it's not me jabbing randomly (which I know I'm not doing). I feel like I'm being stalked by Royal Caribbean and I REALLY don't ever want to go on a cruise.

JustineMumsnet · 22/07/2021 15:41

Will check it out - txs for the heads up

JustineMumsnet · 22/07/2021 16:29

We're asked the provider to shut the Royal Caribbean ad down so hopefully the problems will cease and desist. Let us know if not and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

mynameiscalypso · 22/07/2021 20:46

I've had it several times this evening albeit not for the last hour or so.

applepineapple · 22/07/2021 21:15

Cruise adverts gone for me but replaced with these inappropriate ones instead

MichaelMumsnet · 23/07/2021 07:48

Thanks @applepineapple - we'll take a look and get that one removed too.

Terhou · 23/07/2021 08:30

Whilst looking at ads, how about the one that says "Let's pee honest, women leak"? Spreading the concept that every woman is incontinent is really pretty objectionable.

MichaelMumsnet · 23/07/2021 09:30

Hi @applepineapple - those ads have been removed now. Thanks for letting us know.

rubydoobydoo · 23/07/2021 15:14

The current lottery one is very annoying - I'm using Samsung Internet browser and scrolling on my phone - it's longer than other ads and keeps getting stuck in the middle of the screen so I can't scroll up or down and have to close my browser window to get out of it!

rubydoobydoo · 23/07/2021 15:15

It looks like this on my screen -

Anyone else having the same issue with the current Iberostar advert? Driving me batshit with all the tabs that keep opening. It looks lovely but I would actually like to be able to read threads without constantly leaving MN because the advert has opened in Safari.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 13/08/2021 13:37

@mynameiscalypso
Yes I am. It's in my frequently visited sites too!
