Teflon posters.

What's the best way to raise the issue of posters who have 3 deletions in a six week rolling period, but are still able to post?

Are some posters getting lots of chances and some women getting spurious bans?

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/07/2021 23:21

Hmmmm.

It certainly appears that way. I raised it with MNHQ last week, no response.
Thelnebriati · 02/07/2021 13:36

Several women have been unable to log in unexpectedly and found their account suspended with no strikes, after raising this issue.

The current 'banned with 3 strikes poster' is goading women on Sex & Gender right now.

From now on I'm going to assume they are a mod who is using their everyday account, and thats why Mumsnet talk to them off the boards instead of just banning them.

Hi there @Thelnebriati. Thanks for raising this. We don't send a strike for every deletion. Tbh if we did, we'd be banning a lot of people. We're not treating anyone differently, but, for various reasons, we don't usually go into detail about our individual correspondence with posters. We realise that this means that it's not always obvious why we've made the decisions we have, but we are always open to discussing this with the posters concerned if they feel we've been unfair. We tend to give people a chance to have a think about why their posts are breaking guidelines and see if they can post within them in the future. If it's clear that isn't the case, then we'll suspend their account. There's no teflon posters here and certainly no members of the mod team are posting and breaking guidelines.

ClosdesMouches · 02/07/2021 20:00

So does that mean there is no three deletions in a six week period policy? Or perhaps that policy only applies to thoseposters with certain views . Hmm
So on that basis does that mean that a ban is not based on three strikes, ie something tangible, but instead it's based on the whims of the moderators?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 03/07/2021 09:11

We’ll be introducing a three strikes system whereby users deleted more than three times in any rolling six week period will have their membership automatically suspended and we’ll then take a view as to whether they will have membership reinstated

So this doesn’t exist anymore?

Or is it only on FWR…and only for certain posters?

It does seem that way Rufus.

There's a spreadsheet doing the rounds apparently which is keeping a record of how many deletions certain posters with certain views have received and how many of them are still here, compared to the GC posters who have been banned for fewer crimes.

...aaaand we have another Teflon poster.

I'm quite sore about that one still.

The gift that just keeps giving.

It is passive aggressive and short posts so it is only a stepped back overall view that shows the hate intended.

Thelnebriati · 02/08/2021 22:02

I don't blame you. I've just reported one of their new posts to ask about it.

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 03/08/2021 18:34

I report posts and ask MNHQ to look at a poster's pattern of posting, within a thread and more generally, rather than individual posts. Especially those I feel are not posting in good faith.

MNHQ don't always agree with me but quite often they do.
