Why are threads being deleted with weird messages and then being reinstated?

Just as the title says "Why are threads being deleted with weird messages and then being reinstated?"

There was one about Penny Lancaster earlier which was removed with a message "Disablist" and then... its back?

Whats going on?

ohh... actually it might have been another post removed ,but seriously - that "reason" is not really a good message

It would be nice if MNHQ were honest about this as opposed to a flippant, breezy ‘we’re taking a look behind the scenes, folks!’

Agreed! It's a bit patronising. 'Leave this to the grown ups, you wouldn't understand!'. Just be honest. I'd really prefer that threads weren't pulled unless there is absolutely no other option, and if that's the case, that the reasons are explained properly so that people can understand where the boundaries are.

Hi - just dropping in to say that sometimes when we get a number of reports about a thread, we need to temporarily take it down whilst we go through the posts.

We usually post something along the lines of, 'we're taking this down whilst we check one or two things out behind the scenes'.

Usually the thread will stay deleted because we've discovered a troll or something - occasionally we'll moderate and return the thread. As always, if you have any concerns about a post or poster (or a deletion message) then please do send us a report - we're always happy to take a look. Flowers
