They pop up in the middle of threads like last time, advertising baby stuff.

Hi OP

Is the advert auto playing for you?

IShouldBeSoLurky · 20/06/2021 15:37

Not the OP but they are for me, and they pop out on a separate window that you can’t close until you’ve watched her blathering on for several seconds Confused

DoingItMyself · 20/06/2021 15:37

Bloody awful things.

LargeInCharge · 22/06/2021 15:28

Oh no she’s back 😞

soniamumsnet · 22/06/2021 15:56

Just dropping in to say thanks for the feedback which we'll pass on. Flowers

Slothbynameandnature · 25/06/2021 22:18

She's still lurking amongst us.

RubyGoat · 26/06/2021 07:02

Yes, she's back yet again.

Amy and her annoying videos are back - please make them stop!
thecognoscenti · 26/06/2021 07:21

It's so annoying. It puts me off using the desktop site which is surely counterproductive.

LivMumsnet · 26/06/2021 11:09

Thanks for flagging this up to us again and for your patience - we've passed on your thoughts. Flowers

July2mebabywouldJuly2me · 05/07/2021 07:44

They're still here. Popping up on random threads. And it's not just Ami ...

I gave up on desk top. Cannot stand that ad! Same one for years it seems. Impossible to stop or minimise. Angry

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 05/07/2021 08:40

She’s never gone away for me. I have suffered her for months. I hate her by now. And I don’t have a baby!

JoMumsnet · 05/07/2021 14:53

Thanks for your patience on this one and once again for the feedback on the video player.

As you know, the majority of our revenue comes from advertising and we often test new ways of advertising on site. We're currently testing showing video advertising to logged in users on the Property board.

We've taken on board your feedback and are actively looking at the content to keep things a little more fresh and we'll be making a change this week which limits the video player (whilst logged in) to only the first page of the thread.

Thanks very much for the input.

Becca19962014 · 05/07/2021 15:01

I get these annoying ads all over. I'm rarely if ever on the property board. They're definitely not only confined there. I was told this was going to be looked into weeks ago but am still getting it (it's still being looked into apparently).

You need to realise these cause problems for people whose post these appear in as they look like the person posting is spamming what could be a distressing thread.

July2mebabywouldJuly2me · 05/07/2021 16:02

Oh @JoMumsnet this isn't what we were told when Ami was spamming us a while back! We were assured she'd never darken our doorsteps again!

July2mebabywouldJuly2me · 05/07/2021 16:03

And they're not just on the property board.

JoMumsnet · 05/07/2021 16:14

Hi again - thanks for your feedback. If you're logged in, these videos should only appear in the Property topic, so if anyone spots one elsewhere could you please grab a screenshot? All of the screenshots posted on this thread, and this one - Intrusive video adverts appear to be from threads in Property so if they're cropping up elsewhere, we'll rectify it.

lurkingdh · 05/07/2021 16:21

In the meantime, people could try out the Brave browser instead. brave.com/

Its ad-block is excellent, and you shouldn't be plagued with rogue ads again. I've been using it as my main browser for years now and the web is a much nicer place for it.

(Yes, you can tell it to still show ads on sites that have implemented them well if you want to)

Becca19962014 · 05/07/2021 19:50

I posted screenshots in the other thread that aren't from property.

Unfortunately I'm on an old device that won't run another browser, but I appreciate the thought!

MrsMackesy · 06/07/2021 10:27

These are one of the top two worst things about MN. Intrusive, repetitive and highly annoying.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 07/07/2021 12:25

I am getting Amy today in an AIBU thread. On a laptop in which I am not logged in to Mumsnet. So it isn’t working as you say.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 07/07/2021 12:27

Never posted a screenshot but will try:

Amy and her annoying videos are back - please make them stop!
WorkingItOutAsIGo · 07/07/2021 15:20

Oh and subsequently on FWR as it was.

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 07/07/2021 16:06

This is why I use an ad blocker. Sorry @mumsnetHQ, but I do.

And while we're on the subject, I'm well aware I am 'seeing this message because ad or script blocking software is making the site usable interfering with this page', and I'm sure you know I'm running it too.

And I don't appreciate the imperative language used: 'Disable any ad or script blocking software, then reload this page' because I don't take kindly to being ordered what to do with my own laptop!

So can't you let us get rid of the banner at the bottom of the page on the desktop version once we've acknowledged it? I'm not going to change my mind and suddenly allow ads, and I think others like me think the same way!
