I’ve used the MN unsubscribe link three or four times now, over a couple of weeks, but I’m still getting automated mails!

Is the unsubscribe link still working? This is a pretty serious GDPR thing!

Hi @Arghgerroffyabastard,

Sorry to hear that you've been having trouble unsubscribing from Mumsnet emails. We haven't had any similar concerns flagged so this seems to be a one-off issue.

We've tested both unsubscribing from the email preference centre and the 'unsub from all newsletters' link at the foot of the email and it all seems to be working as expected.

We've gone ahead and unsubscribed you from this end, but could you please let us know if you receive any further emails?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you - I’ll let you know!

Is there a way to adjust messaging/contact settings beyond newsletters? I only joined Mumsnet earlier this week, I cancelled all newsletters but I'm still getting unwanted non-newsletter emails. For example, Mumsnet emailed me today just because I voted on some months-old AIBU question yesterday.

I don't want Mumsnet to email me about anything, ever. Why would I? It's an online forum. Please can you tell me how to adjust settings so that Mumsnet never emails me?

KimMumsnet · 10/03/2022 09:43

Hi there, @Nicewarmsocks - welcome to Mumsnet! If you'd like to change your notification settings, click the arrow next to the main Talk heading, and you'll see a 'Customise' option. If you click there, you'll find options for selecting which notifications you'd like.
Hope that's useful.

Nicewarmsocks · 10/03/2022 15:20

Thanks, @KimMumsnet!

I keep receiving the weekly emails with the 'funny' threads of the week, despite having no newletters selected via my profile.

Can someone make sure I'm not on ANY mailing list. Thanks.

kittensinthekitchen · 12/03/2022 20:27

Despite not being subscribed to any newsletters, and having no response to this request, I have received this week's round up email.

@JustineMumsnet - PLEASE remove me from ALL mailing lists that I do not consent to holding my contact details.
I consent to Mumsnet contacting me only for responding to communication and any reports I make.
If not, I'll be looking into GDPR and which laws are being broken. Thank you.

kittensinthekitchen · 14/03/2022 10:34

Can I actually get some sort of response to this, please?

MichaelMumsnet · 14/03/2022 10:47

Hi @kittensinthekitchen - we'll look into this now.
Please bear with us...

MichaelMumsnet · 14/03/2022 10:51

Hi again - we've unsubscribed you from all emails now.

kittensinthekitchen · 14/03/2022 11:11

Thank you @MichaelMumsnet

Can you tell me why, despite doing this myself, I was still getting emails?

MichaelMumsnet · 14/03/2022 12:18

Hi again.
We've checked and it looks like you unsubscribed from the weekly email round up so you shouldn't receive any more.

We've also added you to a general list that means you won't receive any emails from us.

Please could you forward a copy of the email you received to contactus @ mumsnet.com and we'll take a look.

kittensinthekitchen · 14/03/2022 18:22

@MichaelMumsnet

I deleted them, because I don't want them.

A couple of days ago, I unsubscribed using the link at the bottom of the latest email, but previously to that, the tick boxes on my 'settings > newsletters' page were blank, meaning that I DID NOT subscribe to any of the offered newsletters. So if they are not selected, why did you continue sending me emails until I opted out of it by clicking the link in the email that I already expected you to not send? I didn't consent to them in the first place!

Hello,

It looks like there may have been an error in the system, we're really sorry about that. We understand that receiving unwanted emails can be extremely annoying.

We've been making lots of changes to the back end of the site, including getting ready to launch a brand new (and sparkly) Mumsnet Talk. It could be that the email issue was caused by this. We're not too sure from our end, though - as it obviously needs investigation.

We've contacted our developers about the issue so that they can fix anything that's not working as it should be. Again, we do apologise for the inconvenience. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention.

Sye82 · 14/01/2023 14:18

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 14/01/2023 15:48

Hello Sye82 as you've deregistered you will no longer receive any mails from us.

Tricia78 · 16/07/2023 13:13

Would you please unsubscribe me from Mumsnet too.
I never actually joined but received an email welcoming me & am now seeing posts.

HebeMumsnet · 17/07/2023 10:29

Hi there @Tricia78. Thanks for getting in touch about this.
We've had similar reports about this sometimes, and we think that you may have clicked on the Google sign in option by mistake. We've closed your account as requested though, so all should be sorted. Flowers

Angry70yearold · 22/12/2023 19:52

How the xx!?!!?£!! have I got on to this stupid b*"':;? website? Im 71 years old, and not interested in any of this shite!! Mumsnet is too young for me!!!!
Get me off!!!!

HebeMumsnet · 27/12/2023 13:32

Hi there @Angry70yearold. We'll delete your account for you shortly. No pressure, but if you're looking for a forum where the users are usually slightly older, you could always try Gransnet if you like.
