What does "not sure" mean?

I was interested to see the message on a deleted thread: "We're not sure about the OP post here - so we've taken the thread down."

Does that mean that the OP is considered to possibly be some kind of subversive troll?

Not subversive!

Just maybe not who or what they say they are/ previously banned/ a perve etc.

Why do you ask?

NiceGerbil · 01/06/2021 01:42

What was the thread?

Hi MsAmerica,

We'd post a message like that if we're getting a lot of reports about a particular thread and can see that there may be some connections between the OP and a previously banned poster, for example.

It can take us a fair amount of time to double check things behind the scenes, so if a poster's new to the site and is drawing a lot of reports, we'd rather err on the side of caution and take their thread down swiftly with a general (slightly vague!) message, than commit to calling the OP an outright troll. We try our hardest but we have been known to get things wrong, every now and then...Wink

You can always drop us a line at [email protected] if you'd like to know more about our reasons for deleting a specific thread.

@NiceGerbil

What was the thread?
It was a thread about Kamala Harris, and it caught my attention because it was poorly written and denigrating her in unfair and somewhat sexist ways.

Thanks, Dawn, for the enlightenment.
