Why has the Active Conversations list changed? It looks wonky and is making me twitch :-(

I use MN Classic, if that's relevant

It has stopped displaying the name of the last poster to post on a thread, which makes it more difficult to tell whether there's a new post since I last looked at it or not... is there a rationale behind the change? What is it?!

Yes, it's annoying. Seeing last poster makes it easier to see if worthwhile checking it out.

BelleBlueBell · 13/05/2021 21:00

Very annoying, please put the second column back

carmad · 13/05/2021 22:39

I agree, the time and date of the posts have disappeared which makes it really difficult to tell which posts have been updated.
Please can it be returned to the previous format. I have virtually given up on it this evening

BIWI · 14/05/2021 09:40

Yes! I was very disconcerted to think that BitofFun had posted on her own bereavement thread - which is how I realised that the last poster name had been dropped Sad

sadpapercourtesan · 14/05/2021 10:54

@MNHQ is this a permanent change? Why?!

SoupDragon · 14/05/2021 12:05

This is exactly the thread I came looking for Site Stuff.

I liked the "last poster" bit.

Devlesko · 14/05/2021 12:18

Me too, bring it back. It looks wrong again now.

BIWI · 16/05/2021 09:44

No reply from @MNHQ yet then ... Hmm

carmad · 16/05/2021 17:32

I agree, I was really hoping this would have been looked at . There have been so many posts about slow loading pages and errors, and I hoped this would have been dealt with at the same time. It really is annoying

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 17/05/2021 09:27

Hello everyone - we're so sorry for taking so long to get back to you about this. Things are looking slightly different on Active because we're cleaning up the interface and making things more consistent across mobile and desktop sites in preparation for re-platforming. On Active, we've removed the last updated column.

You can read more about why we're re-platforming on this thread from Justine.

As always, we really value your feedback on any changes - good and bad - so please let us know.

BIWI · 17/05/2021 09:35

Thanks @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet. But why are you removing the 'last updated' column? It's a really useful feature!

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 17/05/2021 10:43

Hey @BIWI we're trying to make things consistent across mobile/desktop - but we'll pass your comments on to the tech team.

BIWI · 17/05/2021 10:55

I can understand why you would want consistency across the platforms, but it seems odd to take something good away from one so it's like the others.

SoupDragon · 17/05/2021 11:16

Yes, dragging desktop down to the standard of mobile seems odd. Why have two versions at all?

GreyhoundG1rl · 17/05/2021 12:59

Very odd and regressive Hmm

JustineMumsnet · 24/05/2021 16:18

Thanks for the feedback - we're trying to clean things up a bit ahead of our re-platforming but we take the point that some found this information useful to be able to tell if the thread has been updated since they last viewed it. To be honest there are probably better (less cluttered) ways of signifying that than putting in date, time and latest poster details which would be useful for mobile users too, so we'll give that a bit of thought and get back to you.
