New MN options - its like we went from 4 tv channels to 200. Its no longer a collective experience.

Was just thinking about deleting some subjects and hesitated because I hate to miss stuff and sometimes the best threads turn up in the most unexpected places.

I guess I was thinking that like tv changing from the 4 channels we are now all watching different stuff which dilutes the community feeling somewhat?

I think I preferred it when the were less subject and options. It wasn't so long ago we didn't even have a ABIU topic - unthinkable I know!
What do others think?

I do know what you mean. In the olden dayz you could all see the same thing, now there are whole topics I know nothing about whatsoever and whereas in the past you might have thought wow, 875 posts on a STYLE thread, must be a ruck, I'll open that, now you just don't see it if you're ignoring style, say.

So I agree. But I do like ignoring feeding/nappies/ante natal etc

Hmm

I remember the days when you could go on holiday for a week and come back and still be able to catch up on all the threads that had taken place in your absence. Back then I lived in a crisp packet and ate rocks though.

MascaraOHara · 09/11/2007 13:43

I think it deffo. seems slower and more disjointed..

Agree with WWW that you could spot the rucks and have a gander.

DarrellRivers · 09/11/2007 13:47

i haven't dared ignore anything (apart from buy and sell) just in case i miss a ruck or an exciting development like the mogellers and issy or somehting like that
I think i even miss the buggy swappers

Hello,
I can report from HQ that there are definitely fewer reported posts and rows around at the moment (a good thing, no? It certainly is from our perspective, anyway) though we should probably wait for a full moon to pass before we assume that it's a permanent consequence of the ignore facility. (It could just be that Cod's too busy with her blog, of course ).

I know what you mean. I have chosen to ignore topics, but in the past would have occasionally looked in on them. I suppose the simple answer is not to ignore anything.
I'm sure the spats will start up again when the christmas stress and frenzy brgins. That'l be anytime soon then

Slubberdegullion · 09/11/2007 14:17

Well I love the new MN. It's so sleek. I don't mind missing out on kick offs (if I want to see people shouting at each other I'll watch East Enders).

The hide function is great too.

I am quite content not knowing what is going on in.....ahh well I won't let on what I care nothing for.

I am quite content.

RustyBear · 09/11/2007 18:13

If you're worried you're missing something, you could always look on last hour every so often - that includes all the topics.

ArrogantCod · 09/11/2007 18:16

zippitippitoes · 09/11/2007 18:30

zip - ooh how do you get back to that one? also when I open the threads they're back to front.

dustystar · 09/11/2007 18:54

DTM
click on the 'customise talk board' option at the top of the page and it gives you the option to change back there

kittylouise · 09/11/2007 19:02

i haven't ignored any topics, apart from buy and sell. And even then perhaps I shouldn't - the funniest threads ever are the pram hum threads

totaleclipse · 09/11/2007 19:16

I have noticed I get less responses now when I start a thread, presumably because loads of people ignore whatever topic I head it in, am quite tempted to start all my threads in chat, that or have outrageuos thread titles
