So what's MNHQ policy when a thread is reported?

Often, a report will generate a response of "Thanks, we'll take a look."

Is it looked at straight away? Or does it join a list? Does it depend how many reports are generated? Is there a specific team member who does this?

I am absolutely flummoxed as to why, when a thread is posted where the OP openly admits they are acting for shits and giggles, MN make the decision to keep the thread.

Do Mumsnet ever feed back to reporters why they've made the decision they have?

I reported a thread last week and it was deleted within minutes, and I got a message back saying thanks, we’re deleting it.

I'd imagine the response will depend to some extent on what else is going on at the time, and some mods may make a different call to others on some issues.

I'll leave to mn to explain their procedure.

But if posters openly admit posting for fun and laughs all the more power to them. It's those not admitting to it, being for fun that's the problem.

Perhaps I should have said "posting for their own entertainment", whilst being incredibly offensive.

Thanks for raising this, @DumplingsAndStew - every thread is different really so it's hard to generalise we're afraid! We do generally take down threads and will always ban the OP if they're clearly trolling.

If there's a specific thread that you think we need to look at again, please do report it to us directly or mail us at [email protected] and we'd be more than happy to have a chat.
