Can I prevent threads I post on joining my Watch list?

There are a few long-running threads I follow and occasionally post on. These threads I have marked to Watch so that I don't have to search for them every time I've closed down.

There are also a lot of threads I post on once or twice then never return to (unless I get notified that someone's mentioned me).

Given that all the threads I post on are in the Threads I'm On list, do they really need to be in the Threads I'm Watching list as well?

As things stand, to use the Watch feature I have to scroll through quite a lot of things I don't want any more.

I'd like to know this! sometimes I 'watch' a thread just because I'm interested but have nothing useful to add to the discussion...but then can't find it because I post on a lot of other threads and they're all clogging up my watch list!

Watch should be different to 'participating in" shouldn't it?

@MNHQ?

@MNHQ I'd really like to know the answer to this!

Hi OP

We're about to look into this for you - could you just let us know what device and browser you're using?

soniamumsnet · 25/03/2021 08:39

Hi @merryhouse just dropping in to let you know that you just need to go to your preferences and untick 'Automatically watch: threads I start and threads I'm on' www.mumsnet.com/Talk?call=Preferences

The reason they add to your 'threads I watch' list as standard, is because at the moment 'threads I'm on' only stay in your list for a maximum of 21 days, whereas 'threads I'm watching' is longer.

Also the also 'threads I watch' is the only list that sends email notifications.

Please give us a shout if you need any more help with anything. Flowers

@soniamumsnet that's great, thanks!

Is there a link anywhere on the site that actually leads to that page? Under "Getting Started" it says you can use Customise on the Talk Home Page, but I can't see Customise anywhere.

MN - Is it possible for 'threads I'm on' to never delete your posts? Sometimes I want to go back to a post/thread I did but I can never find it again.
