highlighting posts

Where can i find the place to set up different colours for my posts and OP's posts? I have done it before, but can't find it in My Mumsnet/settings.

I have only started fiddling with this because I got a new laptop and the display makes my eyes hurt. I still haven't figured that out. I prefer my old one, but it doesn't work very well. I have adjusted the colours on MN, but i am coming round to the idea that it might be better to just look at MN on my phone. I may just have to go and do some housework instead.

Yeah don't think it's the same for everyone. There's no 'Getting started' next to talk guidelines for me. Just Talk guidelines, Accessibility (I've also checked this and it all leads to the same customise page), Privacy, Terms, Contact us, Help. Tried all of them.

Found Getting started only in the drop down Talk section near the Customise link.

Either it's not the same for everyone or I have a glitch in mine.

Let's try to get this sorted for you. On the desktop site, if you scroll to the top of any thread, above the title and the topic name, you'll see the word 'Talk' in big blue letters. Next to that is a down arrow in a circle. If you click on that, then click on Customise, you'll be taken to the Mumsnet Talk Styles page.

Scroll down to Talk options and you should see the options for highlighting your own posts or the OP posts in different colours. Once you've made your choices, don't forget to hit the purple Save button.

Hope that helps but please let us know if the above doesn't work.

@tappingintherain - sorry to hear you're having problems finding these links. Are you also using the desktop site? If so, the Getting Started link is found at the foot of any thread - it sounds like you're scrolling too far down to the very bottom of the screen.

If you scroll up a wee bit you'll see a solid blue bar (well, it's blue on my page but you may have different colour settings) which says: Add your message here...

To the right of that is a link to the Talk guidelines and another link to Getting Started.

This is getting embarrassing for me. @DawnMumsnet I may need you to come round to my house and perform this magic. (I've got coffee, hot choc, wine, gin, etc. Pick your poison! Also got food, lots of it...Anything you want but please come!😄)

Okay I've seen the Getting started link next to the text box!🙈 but it still takes me to the same page the other Getting started link took me. Then talk options/customise, then nothing.

In fact, I took photos just so you see what I'm looking at. Will post soon.

Sorry about the image quality. Somehow taking a picture of my computer screen never gives me a clearer image than this.

The first image is the Talk option at the top and my cursor is on the down-arrow. Second image is after I clicked on the down arrow. Those are the options I have. You can see Getting started there too.

Third image is the Getting started link I've FINALLY noticed on top of the comment box.🙈

Clicking on Getting started (either one of them) takes me to this Getting started page where I see Finding your way around (first image), Here'swhat to expect (second image) and the last image shows Mumsnet Talk rules and Customising talk. You'll see my cursor on the Customise link there.

Hi @tappingintherain just dropping in to explain that this feature was removed in 2016, so posters who joined after that time won't have that option. I hope this clears up the mystery! Shame that Dawn won't get that gin after all!

Oh thanks very much @soniamumsnet for confirming this. I actually figured it out with another poster a while ago but wasn't sure since it's not confirmed. Only wish I kept my old account but I'll drop this issue then
