Really strange decision to delete this thread

Hi MN, I've asked in an email but received no response yet. How is it possible to leave up threads saying how MN is such a toxic, negative, insidious place but delete a thread countering that and basically saying it's more about where people visit than the whole site itself, just because some posters who couldn't handle a simple truth reported the thread?

It's a strange decision to delete it with the deletion message - We're not sure what's going on here and pretty sure not much good will come of it".

Really? So much good will come from threads bashing MN instead? I find this odd.

Hi @OrIsTheWorldNuts
Apologies for the delay replying to your email - we're dealing with a large number of reports today.

We took that thread down because it seemed to be discussing another thread (which we may have already deleted - although please report it to us if we've got this wrong). We don't allow threads about threads - and these get reported to us because they rarely go well.

We're always happy to look at anything which you think breaks Talk guidelines - please just hit the report button and we'll take a look.

Hi @MichaelMumsnet The thread wasn't a TAAT at all. It was inspired by another thread and was simply discussing the sort of thing said in that thread (but not the thread specifically) as well as many others like it. It was discussing a mindset rather than another thread.

The first response was obvious we weren't talking about a specific thread. People reported it because the truth stung a bit, it wasn't aimed at anybody in particular and the only way it would have gone was for people to agree or disagree with the issue, stating their reasons. So far from the votes, majority voted YANBU in agreement with the OP.

I think the deletion was really ill-judged because the thread wasn't even given a chance to see where it was headed but okay.
