Posting for traffic

Not sure if this has been asked before, but many posters go to AIBU and post there 'for traffic'. So why don't we have a 'Posting for Traffic' section.

Because it wouldn't get much traffic?

Many MNers who are looking for interesting threads to read and contribute to will look at the "active threads" list. A few (not many) will browse the specific topics they are interested in but there are hundreds of topics so each one gets very little traffic and it's not unusual for an op in a specific topic area to get no response at all. A very large number of MNers will instead browse just the AINU or chat topics to look for threads that catch their attention, so if there is an OP which properly belongs in a specific topic area but is likely to get no response there, the op will put it in aibu or chat in order to get attention. A "posting for traffic" section wouldn't work unless hundreds of thousands of MNers committed to making that their go-to place to browse. That isn't going to happen.

Hi OP

AIBU has, over the years, had lots and lots of eyes on it - a new topic just wouldn't have this, we wouldn't think. That being said, we're always open to new topic ideas if the call for them is large enough - so we'll keep an eye on this thread and interest gained for a 'posting for traffic' topic and see what happens. Thank you, although perhaps I should have posted in AIBU Grin for traffic

The thing is, AIBU is the fastest moving board so if posters want quick responses from lots of people, that's where they go.

I'm glad I'm not the only one getting pissed off with this!
